Dunc is putting bigger gaps in between the cones.
Increasing it slightly every day on the sly.

They don't even realise they are running a bit further.

Genius.

Like the frog being boiled to death and being none the wiser. Excellent

What the most encouraging thing for me is normally managers are very guarded and protective of their players in front of the media but Big Ron is saying this to the media can you imagine what he says to the players behind closed doors.. You can just tell they wont have it easy under him at all

I'm at less than 1% physically ready. At least that's what my wife tells me after I collapse on her after a minute. Anyone know if Koeman/Kluitenberg have a workout video that can help? I'll also need a training montage with cheesy 80's music.
don't lie mate. she never lets you be on on top.

Frightening really how unfit we were under Martinez. Love the fact that we'll be running ourselves into the ground everygame now, and you'll be getting hauled off it you don't.

Imagine a Deulofeu that can play 90 minutes without doubling over.

A Deulofeu that's still running after the opposition are doubling over......

Koeman also said it was different way of training because of different style of football and way of playing in the Premier league. Does this support the perception many of us had that the team where simply not fit enough under Martinez?
it was totally obvious how unfit they were. the derby and semi being the best examples when after 30 minutes everyone was totally knackered.

im glad hes come out and said it to be honest. how can premiership footballers have been so unfit... i know the training might not have been correct, but still if you are a pro and know you're unfit wouldnt you have done some extra training yourself?

somethign was badly amiss last year. id love to know what really went on over the last 12 months

Martinez used to have fitness training with player having a ball at there feet. To improve the comfort of running with the ball. At that time I thought ok cool yeah I get it. Bt after a year I realised that they NEVER reached any superior level of fitness. They in fact were unfit. Martinez with a proper fitness coach would have done better.

I'm happy koeman instantly realised this nd focuses on fitness.

nd set pieces
i was exaclty the same. it all sounded great and new and refreshing.... then it all went a bit pear shaped...!

I think fitness was the reason why Ross and stones didn't get a minute in the euros. Good to see the RK is pushing them the all.

The players have to take some responsibility for their own conditioning considering that their athleticism is their livelihood, there is a certain expectation that even if the boss wasn't pushing them then they should still be pushing themselves.

A good example would be Ronaldo, if he had a manager like RM who wasn't that concerned with fitness, I would still put my mortgage on him staying at his peak fitness level.

One thing you can count on: in his time here Koeman WILL be attacked for poor training methods or poor approach to injuries. I cant recall any Everton manager who wasn't. It goes with the territory.

If fitness was a major flaw under a Martinez side, maybe that's one of the reasons Belgium thought he would be a better international manager. Those guys have very little influence on their players' fitness. They have to just hope the clubs are taking care of it.

If you ask me, Everton ought to sue Martinez for breach of contract. I am sure there must have been a clause in there about ensuring his players remain fit at all times. He probably had them doing fitness for 30 mins a day for 2 years, hence them all blowing for tugs after 20 mins each game.
