7 roads to drive before you die

This is an article in the Sinday Times Ingear section today. It will probably not appeal to many on here but I do know there are a few petrolheads to whom it may be of interest. After all regardless of what Shankly said there is more to life than football.

1) Franfurt to Sindelfingen autobahn Germany. 15 miles of unrestricted speed.

2) Route 79, Florence to Catalina, Arizona USA. 48 miles with Phoenix in the middle but speed limit I think is 70.

3)Eyre Highway, balladona to Ciaguna, Australia. 91 miles of straight undulating tarmac.

4) Alligator Alley, Naples to Weston, Florida. 95 miles of virtually straight tarmac across the everglades but speed limit is 70.

5) Mumbai-Puna expressway India. 58 miles of good uncongested tarmac with a speed limit of 50.

6) Goudies Road, Reporoa, New Zealand. % miles of sweeping single carriageway tarmac.

7) Attiki Odos, Greece. $0 mi;les of smooth tarmac which is in fact the Athens circular.

I was surprised to see this as in fact I have driven on 3 of these roads albeit some in hire cars.

1) I have driven this a few times but the best was when I had a 3 litre Toyota Supra. I flatted the pedal and got upto the max of just over 140 mph, wow that was something. Since also done it in a mondeo and got that wound up to 125.

2) Arizona is on my list of places to visit so hopefully I will get to drive across the desert.

3) Not sure I can make this but would love to go to South Oz, been a many other places in Oz but not here. Coming soon I hope.

4) Journeyed along this road back in '91 when I was on holiday there but in a hire car and the speed limit was I think 55mph, so no fun there. Recall when holiday was coming to a close rushing back to Orlando from Jacksonville doing just over 70. Spotted by a Highway Patrol guy in a Mustang on the other side. The buggar drove across the grass in the middle to get to my side but did not catch or stop me. Probably gave up when he saw it was a hire car.

5) Not likely to do this as Mumbai is not on my list of destinations.

6) Yes, driven this road in a campervan so any speeding quite out of the question but nice surroundings.

Has anyone else done these roads and have some memories of them?

I think someone might of linked it on here but i saw an article similar but with pictures, some of the roads looked awesome.

All down the sides of mountains and stuff.

Certainly beats the M25 at rush hour.

The US is boss for driving. Drove around a lot of places in the Caribbean, honourable mention to Cuba which to drive right through the middle of it is superb, but Europe does it for me and in particular Greece. Either mopeding it around little sleepy islands or on the motorways of the mainland, up north is better especially driving past with Thassos out at sea.

The M6 through the lakes and the M74 through the borders are nice too like.

Scenery is nice Chico but this is about getting the pedal to the metal.

There is a highway, the carratera in Cuba which stretches for 360km out of Havana deep into the heart of the country. About 90% of it is four lanes, good tarmac and you'd be lucky if you seen another car (usually 1950s classics or Ladas) once every couple of minutes. All you to look out for is odd turkey vulture and cows.

In short: it's here that you seek.

I thought you were only 15!

You get a permit when your 15 and 9 months in Maryland (the age is different in other states but it is usually around 15). I have to drive with an adult in the car until I get my lisence. And I need to drive 60 hours with the permit before I can get my lisence.
