A transfer embargo would normally mean not being able to register any new players - whether they are free transfers or not. What would really hurt this club is an actual transfer embargo so luckily that doesn't seem to be an actual punishment even though transfers in and out are a major requirement of FFP.
Could you actually imagine if the verdict was banned from signing any players at all for fees and still have to sell Branthwaite. The only option then would just rely on the other four contracted CBs at the club and then sign someone on a free transfer which in reality would be Young standard.
That would hurt over the next 12 months than another two points off.
