6 + 2 Point Deductions

I’ve a feeling we’re not getting anything back. The recent Transfer Window closed with the lowest amount spent ever, because clubs were worried about sanctions after what happened to us. As far as the PL is concerned, mission accomplished. All their ‘hard work’ will come to nothing if they hand anything back to us now.

This is the biggest block of waffle I’ve ever read on this forum. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

For a good while now it's us that's been labelled as "pathetic" as we make claims about favouritism towards the select six.
Funny how other teams are finding out for themselves and are becoming more vocal about their unfair treatment from officials.
One other team is wolves who realise how the league is from the start, then as you say some coming around to it because of the jan window and spending

Not really we have points to bring the desuction down and the rules changing to a fix penalty will be easier to enforce then. I dont think we will get it all back but could get it reduced and you eould like to think they would give us a fair chsrge with the second because of it covering the same seasons covered. With us actually cutting costs but who you cant be confident with how they treated us last time

I am more optimistic through seeing super silk at the game. Surely if it went terribly they wouldn’t have said to him come to the game, yet alone he wouldn’t have agreed to come to the game. I imagine the hearing went really well and I am expecting something back really. The admission of guilt that we overspent is 5 points but I think we will get the other 5 back and then they will have to say this seasons charge also relates to last season and therefore we can’t proceed any further with it. A 5 point deduction at the moment puts us 14th with games against Luton away, Palace at home, Sheffield at home, Brentford at home, Burnley at home and Forest at home all still to play.

I doubt that’s what they want from this, less excitement around brand PL internationally.

They wanted the politicians to back off from regulating them and wanted to show they were in control, they haven’t done that at all and now will want this to go away.

Still can't get my head around the legality of implementing rules without putting the penalties in place. Everton could argue that had they known there could be a points deduction of 10 points, then it would have affected their spending.
You simply have to notify all parties of the penalties that will be handed out when you set the rules on spending/ffp/p&s?

IF we knew it was only gonna be 10 points we could have actually spent some money as well.

or even if that was a possible/likely penalty they may have fought harder against the charge rather than admitting it hoping for credit for a guilty plea.

I don't think there should be a defined punishment: there are obviously ways that clubs could breach these rules which are particularly egregious, for example a club that has breached by £300m getting the same punishment as a club that breached by £1 would be absurd. There should be options for the independent commission.

The key thing is that any punishment is fair and proportionate, and it is absolutely obvious in our case that it isn't. It's difficult to get away from the possibility that other interests were factored into the decision.

thats a nice idea to allow flexibility, but unfortunately those who run football have real difficulties with a consistent approach so that flexibility will lead to chaos
