5 Star Albums - Ænima – Tool

Ladies and gents, Tool at their innovative and haunting best. Almost everything that Maynard James Keenan is involved with turns to gold and this might be the finest effort to date. The immense talents of drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones and bassist Justin Chancellor cannot be understated however, as they’re superb musicianship is displayed throughout Ænima.

Explosive tracks such as the memorable opener ‘Stinkfist’, the masterful ‘Forty Six & 2’, the fantastically named ‘Hooker with a Penis’ and ‘Ænema’ are intertwined with eerie ‘filler tracks’ such as ‘Intermission’ and by far the most creepy track to pop up on my shuffle; ‘Cesaro Summability’. These combine to form one the best and most listened to album in my ever-growing collection.
The standout moment for me though is the eulogy to the immortal comedian Bill Hicks in ‘Third Eye’.

An absolute must listen.

One of my favourite all time albums, so good! I remember one of the songs, 'a message to harry manback', was based on an answer machine they received from a guy after they kicked him out of a party haha! Basically said he hoped they died of cancer and ****.

All subjective though. Personally I never really liked this stuff, too weird and creepy and Sigur Ros sends me to sleep.

this, I know this band and their unique style

I actually have quite a varied and in depth taste in music. I just don't have the same connection some people get. But I like what I like, and this Tool album IMO is pretty good.
