4th Place - What's it going to take?

Personally think we'll need 76 and, depending on how Spurs handle their easy run-in, around 72 for 5th. Depending on Chelsea, we have a very outside chance of making 3rd believe it or not as they have three somewhat awkward games coming up (could easily drop 7 points if they implode), but as that'd rely on Liverpool putting them away I'd rather we didn't overtake them.
...but if that meant going straight into the CL league proper rather than a tricky qualifier then I'm all in. I do not believe this scanario is at all likely, but if we ended 3rd I might do a little jig.

Sunderland playing away to Spurs today, they have played 30 games so far, while 17,18 and 19 all played 33 games

They are last with 7 points off safety, Spurs been very poor but i can see one winner today

If they lose today or even got a point, 1 point won't do them any good against us, so they will have to risk and go all out attack which will be perfect for us, we are struggling against teams who part the bus but we destroy teams who attack and allow us to counter

So come on Spurs

Draw tonight please, don't want Spurs going on a run and putting us under extra pressure.

Sunderland really is HUGE. Like my fear that we'd bottle yesterday when tasked with raising out game in a "big one", it's typical of the Everton we all love for us to go and slip up next time out on the back of a wonderful 90 minutes.

Win up there, then hold our nerve at home to Palace and then....Moyes 'n all that: Goodison should be literally shaking. So, if we win the next 2 I'd back us to win against United.

its ours for the taking

Come on you blue boys !
Were Everton Fc ! Roberto's blue army

What's our thinking on United in the CL now?

We need them out so the shadow of them winning the thing is removed.....but would we risk them going through against Bayern so their focus is elsewhere when they come here on Easter Sunday?

No, they won't catch us unless we fall apart

Getting them out of the competition would remove the horrendous possibility of a Liverpool in 2005-type scenario (poor team getting it together in the competition)

I honeslty believe if we get fourtht his season we will be very close to third at the same time.

8 behind, with game in hand (5 behind) and them lot beat them (2 behind) all in the space of a few weeks.

That is not including them dropping points like palace etc

all eyes on city, they need to step up now though.

All we need to do is keep winning.

The irony is we are putting a similar run to them lot together, although ours is a few weeks late......

I've come to accept the fact that if we beat City it'll likely propel us into the Champions League whilst also guaranteeing the league title for the RS at the same time.

Mersey side teams to go unbeaten from here?
They have yet to play Chelsea, but i have my doubts whether Chelsea's defense will be able to cope with their strike force.

If we play like yesterday against city, i think we will win. I agree City have better forwards, but the seemed pretty tired against Saints.

Of our remaining fixtures, Sunderland is the one I am worried about least.

I don't buy into this notion that just because a team is "fighting" for its life they suddenly become a more formidable foe that a team like Saints are at the moment.

Sunderland are at the bottom because they are crap.....simple as.

We battered them with ten men on Boxing Day and were very unlucky losers.

I fancy we will steamroller them on Saturday.

I would rather we had Cardiff and Norwich coming here instead of Citeh and United.

The reality with these struggling teams at the business end of the season is they normally start playing very nervously rather than any better.

As all veterans of Wimbledon Day know all too well...

I know what it will take, the same atmosphere at goodison (v arsenal) for remaining 3 home games and it will be within our grasp.

We have a big part to play

At the end of the day, there is no point in predicting that Arsenal will drop points at certain teams or that we will. It's in our hands, we should be concentrating only on our own results. We don't need Arsenal to slip up, we just need to continue this form from now until the end of the season. 18 points to play for, 18 points is the target.
