1) 95% bleak, failing strip malls/no affordable cities
2) legalised corruption/third-world public services and wealth distribution
3) great music
4) friendly people
5) they have beer here now! (but why does it all have to be such an IPA/hops pissing context? a nice brown ale will do - and suppress that urge to add pomegranates or strawberries or kale or acai berries, thanks)

Happy Tax-cheating Uppity Creole Day! ; )

I'm generally in agreement, but 1) National Parks (and National Forests, Seashores, and quite s few State Parks). I won't debate poverty/welfare in this forum

As Americans mark their Independence Day on the 4th of July, the ECHO is saluting the stars from the USA who have graced Goodison Park.

Everton have enjoyed a rich heritage of American stars and have field more US players than any other current Premier League side.

The Blues have handed out 477 appearances to players from the USA in the Premier League era – a figure second only to Fulham.

The Cottagers, who have been down in the Championship since 2014, are just one game ahead when it comes to selecting Americans in the Premier League with a total of 478.

Since its inception, the USA has been a nation of immigrants and the list includes the matches played by Yugoslavian-born midfielder Predrag Radosavljevic (Preki) back in the inaugural 1992/93 Premier League season.

Preki – whose previous club had been St Louis Storm in the American indoor soccer league – turned out on 46 occasions for Everton in the Premier League although he didn't play for the American national team until 1996 after acquiring US citizenship.

Leading the way for the USA and the Blues of course is long-serving goalkeeper Tim Howard who made 354 appearances over a decade-long stint from 2006-16.

The New Jersey native, who now plays for Colorado Rapids, also scored a goal against Bolton Wanderers at Goodison Park in January 2012 with a 101-yard wind-assisted clearance from his own area.

Howard, who has played 115 times for his country, is one of three Everton players to have won a century of caps for the USA.

Joe-Max Moore (100) turned out 52 times for the Blues in the Premier League while Landon Donovan (157) played in 17 matches for Everton over two loan spells.

Brian McBride also proved popular at Goodison on a temporary stint, appearing on just eight occasions in the Premier League while goalkeeper Marcus Hahnermann served as an understudy to compatriot Howard in 2011/12 without making it onto the pitch.

Also, it's worth mentioning that one of the greatest Evertonians of all, 'The Good Doctor', David France is a long-time American citizen having lived in the USA for the past three decades where he is a relative neighbour of 1995 FA Cup hero Paul Rideout - although his accent faithfully remains far more Widnes than Arizona!

Distraught by the lack of Keynes merchandise though. Surely, in America, at least a bobblehead?

Happy Birthday to our loveable american cousins. The bunch of young scamps that they are, bet they wished they stayed under our control now. :p

Have a good 'un.
