Cal

Player Valuation: £40m
Which formation do you prefer with everyone fit, personally i prefer the 4-5-1 with this:

Howard

Neville Yobo Lescott Baines

Carsley

Pienaar Osman Arteta

Cahill

Yakubu

That team was in great form, winning twice at West Ham inside 4 days and remember the 7-1 v Sunderland.

But now with Cahill injuried. Don't we have to think 4-4-2. If either Vic or AJ is available for the Derby game. I just don't see a Cahill clone out there at the moment.

Hard to say.

I like 4-4-2 against the lesser teams and then 4-5-1 against some of the stronger teams.

Agree with that team, its are best at the moment. Hopefully with additions in the summer we can rotate the squad an the system.

Is agree with that team, however id play lescott left back and jagielka in the centre...I like baines though, so keep rotating them i guess

Thats because Neville isn't in midfield and it allows quick passing in midfield.

We should always play that side, dropping Carsley for Johnson against lesser teams.

With Cahill being out, we should have Fernandes there.

ANYTHING other than a Carsley and Neville midfield.

Not really. He tries to get the ball forward alot. Much better then Carsley who just passes it sideways.

That midfield would be sick!! But no Pienaar on the bench? hes better than Carsley/osman!

Carsley obviously stays back in a five man midfield. When Neville is employed in midfield with him, there is a tendency for our midfield to drop back and isolate the midfield with the attack.

See Fiorentina first leg.

Well it's clearly our best team, although I'm not sure whether a place shouldn't be made for Jags. We miss Cahill so much. His injury is a big worry, I think it's clearly going to dog the rest of his career. We need to be looking for a replacement. I don't think we'll ever see a full season out of him again.
