'Dixie was the greatest centre forward there will ever be. His record of goalscoring is the most amazing thing under the sun. He belongs in the company of the supremely great like Beethoven, Shakespeare and Rembrandt.'

Bill Shankly

Old boy near me (Mr Best one of the first black players - ex Chester City and Swansea) saw Dixie play when he was starting in the Irish leagues and Dixie played for Sligo he said even then when his career was effectively over he was a colossus of a player.

RIP Dixie undoubted king of centre forwards.

Feel like the club could do more to raise his profile as a legend outside of Evertonians. Don't think he gets the credit he deserves when generic football fans or journos talk about the all-time greats.

Hardly the place to make this argument, but I agree.

RIP.
