We didn't stagnate due to funds, as Moyes was a genius in the transfer market. We stagnated because the manager was content to sit on his laurels and soak up the plaudits for "punching above his weight".

We didn't spend proper money on soemone for 18 months. i might be a year out with teh start date of that

Crucial summer for the club. We back teh manager with cash and carry on the progress or we don't and stagnate like we did post 2009

thats the key for me.

if its yet another negative net spend or selling players to buy summer then bill defo has to forced out.

Think the best summation for me would be

One manager saw us as the vehicle which could get him his dream job where he could then show his talent whilst winning trophies
One manager sees this right now as his dream job where he is showing his talent and can win trophies

This is absolutely spot on.

I honestly believe Moyes could have been the next Alex Ferguson, but around 2010 he decided to stick instead of twist. And that's why I get on Moyes' back so much - there's nothing that annoys me more than wasted potential, as I have wasted my own and I know what a tragedy that is.

Anyone who ever doubted the way a positive attitude and self belief can havbe mate only has to look at Martinez to see exactly why it plays a massive role in everything

As for the wasted potential mate I'm in the same boat but reckon I'd top you in regards to wasted potential - 40 is my line in the sand to start trying to redress that in part though

For me the man will achieve the absolute limit of our potential. It'll never be a title challenge as things stand, it takes too much money.

A good run where our best players are on form for long periods, luck with injuries and rivals having seasons where they go off the boil could see us get 3rd/4th.

I've no doubt silver will be coming shortly.

Haha sorry didn't mean it to come across that way - but you know those people whose happy to be in the back seat? Well, I'm one of them :)

not at all chum but why you think you've wasted your talent, especially with our new found air of positivity we should be saying it's never too late eh ??

actually, maybe we need an ale house thread for us to say what "might have been"......

Never mind that, I'll be furious if we spend less than £30m. We should be spending £40m.

I haven't done the sums but I think there was a fair bit left after the last two windows, quite apart from the extra TV money and stuff.

We might even show a profit when the annual report comes out, and we haven't done that for a while.
