Cant wait for the play Baines in midfield thread.

For me 3 at the back is a terrible formation in the same way that 2 DMs is.

4-3-3 is the future, embrace it.

We've actually played three at the back at times this season. When Barry drops very deep in between the stones and jags. The full backs then have license to get forward.

If we were to play it more rigidly you'd imagine stones would be the central defender bringing the ball out from the back.

After taking all of your thoughts into consideration, I've decided that the formation of the future is actually TWO at the back.

If it was good enough for Dixie Dean's Everton, it's good enough to me.

Yeah the old 2-3-5 formation, my Grandad used to go on about that. It was ruined when some team started playing 4-4-2.

I don't think 2-3-5 has been seen since Ardiles managed Spurs, it didn't work too well then, but you never know

Looking at the signings we've made I reckon 4-3-3 is the most suitable formation for us. Still think 3 at the back should be something we have in our locker though as an occasional thing.
