Thinking about the Mangala move and how he might fit in. Personally I like 3 at the back with the right personnel. What does everyone think about something like this?
If Garbutt is fine going forward, but limited defensively (same with Bolasie), a formation like this would be provide cover with Gana inside and Mangala behind. I like Holgate in that central role in a back three, and Keane seems healthy now. While he's not exactly fleet of foot, I think he can handle a bit of space. Rooney can play the deeper lying playmaker role. While you can try and shoehorn Siggy in centrally, he's actually done quite well on the left, and if you pair him with say Garbutt (left footed, making runs to the byline), Siggy can comfortably drift inside anyway on his right foot. Coleman and Walcott already seem to have a nice partnership building.
Davies could sub in for Rooney at times. I think people underestimate what Davies brings to the side. His energy is infections, and he's always try to go forward and try things, which I believe has a knock on effect with the others.
