Pienaar's gloves

I quite like that 3-4-3. McCarthy has to get in it for me atm.
Pretty muchwell, 'debatable' on the silly picks, mate.
If the weaker opposition is playing one up top and defensive, and we've got them under the cosh, do we really need more than Mori and a bit of tracking back from Del / Mirallas to cover any breakaways? Having our most creative 6 on the pitch - Coleman, Bolasie, Mirallas, Del, Rom and Ross - all roughly covering an area and role but flexible to interchange and make runs, is more likely to create chances for us than not. Its not a rigid formation or system - we've seen Bolasie interchange with Rom, Barkley drift wider, etc to exploit perceived defensive weaknesses already. Personally, I dont think a rigid attacking shape or a free-for-all is the answer, but some flexibility and zonal role is what I would shoot for.
In a more balanced game - where we need to think about defensive shape more- then I'd have Baines ideally in the wing back role and Barkley, tucked in further up field (by no means a winger, as you remark). Bainsey not being fit, I'd play Mirallas there, with Mori covering. Oviedo is not offering much there atm.
I would shift routinely to 3 at the back (coz we have he players to play it) and drop a defensive mid when playing the likes of Burnley at home, etc
But I guess the above are 3 good reasons why I'm not a footy manager...

Not for me.
Although I think we could do a lot worse than try an 1890's style 2-2-6 formation.
The defending can't be worse than last season.
