R.I.P. It is tragic when they are so young, I would be defo be pressing charges against the hospital that diagnosed the heart attack as a virus if I was his family. I would be raging over that.

The Danes and Swedish docs have done extensive research into SUDDEN ADULT DEATH SYNDROME and have come up with with a link to the use of anti-inflammatories. Now i have played football at a decent level for the last 10 years and lads every week would be taking drugs like dyphine to get through matches. Considering whats at stake at a proffesional level id imagine there is plenty of young men out there right on the edge of succumbing to this.

My cousin died age 22 from SADS, really bad time. He also nearly died when he was born due to an irregular heart beat.

Coxsackie Virus infections: Viral Myocarditis
Can cause heart attacks to name but one..........

Cytomegalovirus (CMV), which usually is dormant, a member of the herpes family, spread through bodily fluids, only showing symptoms in those with weakened immune systems, such as transplant patients or compromised through viral infection...

Even Influenza carries a risk of increasing myocardial infarction.

Viral diagnosis is extremely difficult especially as there were probably other factors in play not obvious.

So I don't think anyone could be "raging"

SADS by definition is unknown by what causes it.... But there are a number of viral candidates that are being looked at

The point about Antiinflamitories is a non-starter as if the cause of death were unknown - they'd carry out an autopsy and carry out toxicological tests.

Anti inflamitories like Ibuprofen and other NADs would be amongst the first on the list..................... to be found.

The Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is thought to be affecting 30% of all adults even with healthy immune systems and heart function....

In brief its a very complicated subject.

I don't think you can say that or claim any association with Antiinflamitories. There use is widespread amongst the general population:

Or that Professional athletes have a higher chance than the rest of the population - which is 1/500000 if you're aged under 30 actually of this happening per year!!!

AND this lads case shows - even when some symptoms are presented - getting an accurate diagnosis is difficult. As multiple indistinct symptoms can be interpreted as something else.

Very sad news. It seems to be happening a lot in recent times in various sports and I've wondered if isotonic sports drinks had anything to do with it (looking for recent innovations in sports nutrition).

Well a team of investigators in denmark and sweden did, so dont be so arrogant to dismiss it.
