We did the Olympics pretty well mate.

My snob detector is going nuts.

totally, totally different.

you cant use say 5 stadiums in sydney or melbourne cos the influx of fans would be logistically a 'mare, the centres would be too far apart and cost too much to hike around.
lets face it, if foreign fans didnt turn up then it would be a disaster cos you lot just wouldnt watch it.
i didnt think that s.a. would get it though, still think that could go all wrong.

apart from that i dont think you merit it on the basis of not being a 'footballing' nation. i didn't agree with the u.s. getting it either.

I'd quite like it, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Newcastle and Canberra could definately get used and maybe one of Cairns, Hobart & Gold Coast as well

I agree that the biggest issue is definately the distance fans would have to travel - not just to get there, but if they had group matches in say Sydney then 2nd round in Perth, like a 5 hour flight away...

Plus that the World Cup's held in June/July - smack in the middle of their winter (used to be pretty damn miserable in Melbourne)

Reckon it's down to Oz or Russia, then the US in '22 - I'm surprised the UAE didn't enter a bid.

Both the US and Australia have excellent national sides now, and the sport is still growing. Why wouldn't FIFA want to bring the world cup to the places where there is still room for more interest, its not like putting it back in europe is going to create any new football fans. Putting it in places like the US, Africa, and Australia would also do a great deal to turn the casual soccer fans into more committed fans

Y'all could stay at my place. We could even have brazil vs england in my backyard.

I'll be there - presuming that England qualify, we could easily see Rodwell captaining a side that might just include Vaughan (would be 30), Baxter, Gosling, Garbutt, Wallace, Hallam Hope, Orenuga and Agard!

do you think they would give nz a group ? joint bids are all the rage these days. same size as england & big enough stadiums in 5 or 6 places.

i could see.......
sydney
melbourne
brisbane
canberra
adelaide
perth
nz

maybe being a possibility, it's if it could cope with so many visiting fans. far, far more than olympics.

in fact i reckon nz should go for it instead.
