So the French hate the English, the Scots hate them too, as do Wales, not to mention Ireland.....not a coincidence surely.

Whoever England were playing today you could have used the argument " ah but they are our arch rivals and they hate us so we had a more difficult game.."

So it's sour grapes really.
They hate us because it goes way back, way back to when we ruled a third of the world.

This is my last on the matter, but if you are trying to tell me England did not have a harder opponent today, with everything to play for to stop their arch rivals winning the trophy, then you are talking bollocks, if it's between England and Ireland then I have no problem with them winning it, they beat England, fairs fair.

I remember many a 5/6 nations in the 80's and 90's when Ireland were dogshit, every dog has its day...;)

I'm telling you that everyone is their arch rival so it didn't make a blind bit of difference that it was France. As shown in video above. That is hardly talking bollocks.

You'll get over it.

personally think you're talking bollocks by saying the french had something to play for because they don't like the english. they're all professional (use that term lightly based on scotland's performance today) rugby players at the end of the day who won't want to lose either way. france had something to play for in every game except today - your point is a bit mute like.

Your argument makes no sense though...by your logic, England always has the more motivated opponent.

Seems very sour grapey to me.
I think Maybe England does have a more motivated opponent in the 6 nations, but the discussion I was having with The Equaliser was Ireland had an advantage facing a Scotland side that was inferior to France and had nothing to play for.

I have no problem whatsoever with Ireland winning the thing, and neither will any other England fans.

There is added gusto for a France team to perform to stop England winning a cup, and if you think different then fair enough.

Ask any Scot in a boozer tonight who they'd rather see win, and they'd pick Ireland every time, same in the French bars.

So what you're saying is you have no problem with Ireland winning, but you do feel the need to try to minimize their victory somehow.

OK mate xx

You're all talking bollocks. Every team played the other team once. Wales knew that they had to give Italy a good battering to stand a chance and they did. Ireland knew they had to beat Scotland by a certain margin and they did, plus more. England knew what they had to do and failed against an error stricken French team.

Great end to the tournament for rugby's sake.

Not at all mate, read the posts, The Equaliser claimed England had an advantage playing last, I said Ireland had the advantage playing a piss poor Scotland side, that is all this debate was about.

I have never made any excuses as to why Ireland won, they won fair and square, England should have scored more points at the end of the day against the other sides.

My point was, going into today's matches, Ireland had an easier game facing the Scots than England did facing the French.
