Part of me really pities the man. He might eventually come good. I doubt it, but you never know. Either way, he was given this massive price tag by a manager clearly at the end of his tether here, and then just given no chance to live up to the expectation. So ultimately, he'll end up being...

    Everton v Newcastle. 3rd Feb at 1945.

"A bit Scott Gemmill". To this day I don't even know what Scott Gemmill ever actually did except be the son of Archie. Like he always seemed to be there in the starting XI but I could never figure out why.

    Everton programmes/WSAG fanzines

WSAG is still a personal favourite for all things Everton. Always gives a few laughs and that. They used to have a piece by Saint Vesp in there like every issue which was always good.

Going to be honest I'm not liking the sound of this. 13.5m is a lot of money for someone who is by and large a bit of a one season wonder in what is by and large a fairly substandard league compared to the Premier League.

Martinez Slams Mike Jones’ “Unacceptable” Performance

But the point remains. That second half saw 6 goals, 6 substitutions, and a couple of injuries such as the one to Oviedo and the few to Costa which definitely ate up a couple of minutes each. If we were to add time on for celebrations we'd be looking more towards double figures for added time...

Martinez Slams Mike Jones’ “Unacceptable” Performance

I don't buy that concept of adding time on for celebration. If that was the case there'd be 5 minutes plus added on every week.

Match Thread Everton v Spurs. 3rd Jan at 1600.

That second half was much better, and it's really how we should play. Just getting in their faces, taking people on, increasing the level of commitment, they didn't know what to do once we started doing that, and it really stretched the game and gave everyone much more confidence - shown by...

    Tim Howard

The only teams that have conceded more than us lie 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 19th, and 20th. Swansea, in 18th, are level with us, and Leicester, the complete anomaly in this instance, are top as we all know. I'm not saying Howard is at fault for every goal we concede, because he's not. But you...

Possibly, but I doubt there'd be as many.

    Tim Howard

No one said there was, but he's still the starting goalkeeper, and we conceded a lot more with him in goal than we did the year prior. For what it's worth, Howard conceded 44 in 31 and a half games with 7 clean sheets. Joel is down as conceding 6 in 6 and a half with 3 clean sheets - as Robles...

    Tim Howard

So am I mate. We genuinely conceded 50 last season in the league.
  12. SweetJesus849

    Tim Howard

We conceded 50 last season, and had 10 clean sheets. We conceded 46 in 04/05 and had 13 clean sheets. For 13/14, we conceded 39 and had 15 clean sheets. Somewhere along the way we've had a huge drop off in performance or talent, whichever you prefer.

    Roberto Martinez discussion

I rate the lad personally, and he's got a good 10 years on Barry anyway, and no one said it would have to be right now. It was mentioned earlier, and I reckon the lad will come good. Wasn't long ago people were moaning about Lukaku here there and everywhere. People forget a lot of these lads are...

    Roberto Martinez discussion

Is it wrong to suggest we could already have a replacement for Barry already in the squad by the name of Besic? Granted he's a bit raw but we've hardly seen what we've got have we, I mean the lads what, 22, 23? And Bosnia felt comfortable enough with him to just have him shadow Lionel Messi for...

    Is our style backfiring?

Partly. But it's not that we're conceding which is concerning, because every team concedes. It's the manner in which we concede, because more often than not, it's a general calamity. That goal yesterday was a case in point, as was the goal on Monday.

    Some optimism...

This. I also don't feel that the same ace players were the sole reason either to be fair.

Everton v Arsenal. PL Asia Trophy, Singapore. 18th July @ 13:30 BST.

Anyone else reckon Arsenal have treated this more like a proper league game, whereas we've treated it for what it really is, a preseason game?

    Your favourite Everton shirt/strip

2011/12 home, 1985 home, 2010/11 third "vanilla" kit. In that order. I'm a big fan of hooped socks anyway and I think they should be on every kit.
  19. SweetJesus849

The transfer that shocked or saddened you most.

Samuel Eto'o. Perhaps it's because I've only ever really seen us buy no marks and make them great, he was already great.

Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

Not overly fussed either way. Fits well if we look to play counter attack football though. McGeady would do that if he literally just ran instead of trying to beat all 11 mean 4054365854 million times before passing the ball 5 yards to Baines.
