We're arriving in Basel Bad but have trains booked to Bern from Basel SBB. Can we just jump the train from Basel Bad? Assume is goes through Basel SBB or will we have to get a taxi or something over to Basel BB?

Agreed, wouldn't bother with anywhere in Italy for a football game, just not worth the hassle. Germany - now that is a different matter, they just seem to have everything boxed off for football fans, can't fail to have a great time. We're stopping in cologne to break up the journey to Bern...
