Deduction would be next season as of about 4-6 weeks ago. At least that's what we think, its not written down anywhere...

Hard to know in this case, we equally could've done that and gone into administration with no other options on the table, had -9 points and the players completely implode mentally. As of where we are now we know we could take that, but if it'd happened before maybe they wouldn't have gained...

If they stay up do we reckon Burnley will keep Kompany and buy players who can actually play his system, or employ a manager more suited to their players?

Yeah it's a crazy theory that doesn't stand up to how seriously sanctions are taken in America

It probably won't be close to the biggest loss to Usmanov from sanctions. Barely worth consideration in comparison to USM

Before sanctions they were judged by the rule of law, which said doing business with Russians was legal

Nobody was buying a club with deductions until they knew the outcome, so that funding gap could've pushed us into administration.

We all knew this was in the background, we were always going to have to deal with it this summer. Staying up then dealing with it is the best scenario. There are no good scenarios on the horizon, but there never were

Guessing we're about to find out the answer to what happens if we don't have that monthly £20m coming in, which I suspect is the reason this situation has carried on so long.

That article seems to think we have paid the wages despite the 777 money not coming in.

They were paying PR advisers?? Clearly not a great investment for them anyway. I'm going to guess that firm is very pleased to see the back of them considering its been 100% negative stories

Its an interesting rule, presumably to avoid clubs "gaming" the system like we would be doing if we ended up 12 points ahead of Luton after the Sheffield United game and then triggering it.

Main question is how much of it he's allowed to spend over here? If the majority of his wealth is from his work on the Russian arm of USM then its a grey area over whether he can spend it on Everton

If we were Luton and that happened to a team 11 points above us, we'd be fuming. Is the deduction being next season from a PL rule?

If we go into administration we don't get anywhere near enough for Branthwaite, Onana and Pickford, and we go into next season with a decimated squad.

The question is when's the deadline? Is it the moment the whistle blows against Arsenal or is there some weird accounting deadline that doesn't line up with the football itself?

Now we're assured safety things can move. That hanging over us (thanks to the deductions) meant that it was unrealistic to expect anyone to make a final decision before now, on any side. If PL had vetoed them and we'd gone straight into administration and got relegated then we'd be blaming them...

    Luton v notts?

Yeah anyone arguing for Forest going down are completely dropping their principles the moment we're safe. Forest being relegated will probably mean the deduction did it, and there shouldn't be any deductions. And all this "they bought players but we're being punished for building a stadium"...

For the player's welfare, if we want him then they need to negotiate with Spurs. They get nothing if he signs elsewhere. I'm not saying my preference either way but this isn't the time for Levy to play hardball.
