Blame The Players Thread 2019/2020

Any new manager should be building around the following:

Pickford
Kenny
Holgate
Mina
Digne
Gomes
Gbamin
Davies
Bernard
Richarlison
Iwobi
Gordon
DCL
Kean

Young and hungry, and if one or two don’t turn out to be good enough then who cares, at least they won’t have jogged round like that utter bell Schneiderlin. Sack the proven failures and weak minded bells off. Start again.

Silva gets all the blame because nobody really wants to believe that, after all we’ve spent, we only have two or three players capable of performing at the level we really need them to.

Some of the performances we’ve put in this season, aspects of them are down to motivation and the system - but the majority of it boils down to a lack of quality, individual errors and, more worryingly, what appears to be general apathy for a few of them.

It’s a sad, sorry state of affairs and it’s going to require an almighty overhaul over the next few windows.

Those are exactly the 14 players ive listed elsewhere.

Mad to think a squad of 25 has only 14 serviceable players...

Also of the 14 only Richarlison has scored goals consistently.

If you look at that list 8 of the 14 were signed by Brands/Silva.

Davies / Gordon / DCL / Kenny / Holgate were all signed young or have been youth players

Only Pickford is worth keeping as a senior player before Brands/Silva joined.

It just shows the gravity of the job since summer last year.

The problem is the people who have spent the money on overpriced bang average players. We need a manager that is able to spend the money wisely but also develop the few very good promising players we still have.

However we just always appear to go round in circles by sacking a manager, paying him and his back room staff off but then move for the same level manager and all sit around wondering what's gone wrong again. It is clear that the people running the club couldn't run a bloody lemonade stand.

And indeed the enormity of the task ahead. Awful, awful lot of overpaid wasters still on our books. It’ll be tough to shift them all, but Brands is doing a good job so far.

But Brands/Silva have signed good players. The problem is that 3 of them are injured (not including their only ropey signing Delph who is also crocked).

The issue isnt the players they have signed...its that they havent been able to sign enough players...getting Zouma, Doucoure and Zaha in the summer could at worst have added numbers into the squad to see some others moved on.

Agreed.

As ive always said, i think were stuck until next summer when a load of players go or have 1 year left...

The real squad should emerge in season 21/22 i think.

The lack of heart and desire from our players is disheartening. They are so comfortable with mediocrity that it hurts.
