The Ashes 2025

It’s big to get a win considering how long we’ve gone without a win in Australia and how down we’ve looked as a team.

They deserve criticism for what’s happened in this series but it’s gone way too far recently.

Bethell batted well. He should be playing more. There's something about him and Tongue, they should be the future of English cricket.
I like them both, when England lost woakes on day one against India I thought he ran in all test, he's got something.

Bethell clearly has a good eye and a lot of quality. I realise the country Cricket nerds want a keaton jennings there or some other plodder who's averaged 39 over 12 seasons in division 2, but it's clear Bethell has a lot of ability in 3 formats

Australia has largely been without 3 of their 4 main bowlers this entire series. That's a series where it was widely acknowledged that the bowlers were strongest in both sides.
And their replacements havent been great, Starc has done some very heavy lifting.

I guess I mean from a form perspective. England's batters are riddled with technical difficiencies but "Baz ball" can mask that by hitting to a total on small grounds. Australia's batters were all out of form going into the series, but they're experienced and well versed in winning.

What a stinker of an ashes series. Barely any excitement for the whole thing and they could leave 10 days of cricket on the table. If I wanted to see teams make 170 I’d watchT20
To be honest I've not had the chance to follow this series too closely (partly down to how poor England have been). But you can't help but think that constant limited overs cricket has turned their brains into mush. Two, two day tests in a series must be some kind of record. Second test didn't feel that much better either. Or have Aus prepared bowler friendly wickets?

Aussie pitches have more in them for pace bowlers than most places but the pitches this series have favoured the ball too much. The approach from the batters doesn’t help when none of them seem to dig in or value their wicket. Also the quality of player isn’t as high as previous series imo. Starc is the only Aussie who is at the top of his game still almost all the bats are on the way down. Englands preparation was non existent and it showed.

England have got a bit better, they only lost a 450+ run chase by 82 in the last test, I know how bad the test match application has been - but it was not as stated, a thrashing.

Then to bowl out the convicts twice in 2 days, again no matter what the pitch was doing, is a pretty decent effort.

Whilst they have really poor test bottle, they are improving. Who’d have thought spending time playing cricket in a different country would improve their collective game? It’s almost as though going earlier and practising a bit, might have helped.
