Everton Youth Teams Thread

Olayiwola looks like the man of the match , some great combinations with Akarakiri and the other subs… he says having only watched the last 25 mins
The only 25 that mattered honestly.

I have been an outspoken Pita supporter, so grain of salt, but I am FLABBERGASTED at how much more competent the 4 young lads looked today. Absolutely night and day performance compared to the U21 starters.

Campbell almost undoes all the hard work with a terrible misjudgement at the back.

Indeed , the most enjoyable 25 mins I’ve seen from our 21s in a long time. The 4. initial subs were hugely impressive, Bates and Davis too from the original starters. Pita is getting better and better with an injury free run , Akarakiri too seems to have settled into his role, he’s an unusual box of tricks talent for the position he plays. It’s a long time since I can recall a first year Scholar like Olayiwola scoring for the u21s. Some very satisfying performances there.

I attended tonight's match and a handful of players stood out for me, including all of the substitutes who turned the game on its head for us.

Davis at right-back looked fairly assured and Tamen once again had a decent game at the back. I was fairly impressed with Ebere, who seems to have a good turn of pace and looked like one of our quicker players. Van Schoor made some decent defensive interventions towards the end of the match but was quiet going forward.

I must admit that I am not too confident that Braiden Graham will make it to the first-team. He has some pace and a bit of trickery but he seems too small to be a Premier League player. Both midfielders who started the game (Foster and Bates) were poor and I thought we looked desperate at times for a proper holding midfielder.

Is the Campbell that everyone is slating the same Campbell that has been on our bench in the first team regularly? If so, Moyes needs to drop him as a wake up call and call another youngster up as a reward for actually doing well.

It doesn’t even matter what position really because they stand next to no chance of getting on so it’s just experience and a bit of a reward for their efforts
