Everton boss David Moyes told BBC Sport:
"I’ve tried coming here with 11 men and not get over the line. It was an important one for us. We brought briliant support here. For 80 minutes we were on the backfoot. We did some really good stuff in the opening part of the game. We were nice and fluid. To get over the line took a big job."

On the red card: "I couldn’t understand it. I don't think anyone could have expected it. Anthony Taylor told me by the letter of the law if you raise your arm you can be sent off.

"I don't think anyone else in the stadium would have thought anything of it. I quite like it when my players fight with each other because it shows they care and [put the] demands on players. Disappointed he got sent off. He’s apologised. He praised the team and is grateful for the result. We move on.

"For the team to go and win at 0-0 at that time was an amazing result considering the big improvement Man Utd have made.

"It was a brliant goal. Great finish.

"That’s what Jordan is. He’s as good a goalkeeper as anybody. His saves are incredible. We were going to need him with 11 men never mind 10.

"Michael has stepped up and we need him. He’s experienced and knows how to play. He played really well tonight."

On being above Liverpool: "I hadn’t thought of that for one moment. It’s not something we’ve done very often."

….would you believe it. I’m thinking get to 70mins and maybe get a draw, then you start to believe the unbelievable. I’m a glass half empty bloke, always have been but when it got to 87 I was so desperate for them to see that out and get what they fully deserved.

They were wonderful to a man, hard to single anybody out. KDH composure personified, all over the pitch and a terrific goal, Garner so believes in his own ability to keep possession, Pickford with a Southall-like save, Tarkowski a fortress, Barry very decent job in protecting the ball but I’m going for Keane.

It was such a test of his mentality after the sending off incident, the key thing we’ve all criticised him for. He not only kept it his concentration, he was very composed and defended for the cause.
He’s always had some good attributes even without pace but this season he’s really had his head screwed on and seems to have suddenly matured into a sensible calm defender! Don’t know if this is down to a coach or Moyes or anything but long may it continue… probably player of the season so far!

A couple of years ago we were questioning the willingness, desire and determination of the players at this club. Spineless and heartless were branded around freely because of the dire position we faced. Today was the first time for years, I felt we have a team which desperately want to win. This is a special moment, and let’s hope we build on it and that we don’t lose it - spirit of the blues.
