We need an actual number 6 as a Gana replacement. Iroegbunam and KDH are number 8s. Röhl and Armstrong are a little more versatile, but both also seem to be comfortable as number 8s, so a 433 seems to be the most natural system for us to play, we just lack a proper sitting number 6. Gana tries to be that sometimes, but it's never been his forte. I wouldn't call Gana a left-sided midfielder. He's played on the left of the two in midfield in a 4231 at times, but I don't think he's naturally attracted to that side of the pitch like KDH is.
Cba to find it but i had posted in 2023.
DM: Onana
LCM: KDH (to sign)
RCM: Garner
I wanted us to sign KDH back then. Totally agree with bringing in a 6 and setting up with those 2 CMs.
Garner & Armstrong can also each play as a 6 if that works.
Up there with RB with as big a miss this summer.
If we can drop ~60m total on a top class RB and 6 over the next couple windows we'll immediately look so, so much better.
Interesting that Moyes wanted Tete & Palhinha then didnt sign a RB or a DM.
I really rate this lad, and he was immense against Fulham, my one criticism is I wish he would get over his man-crush with Grealish. His out-ball is 90% to Jack and that becomes predictable. Its not like we haven't got a quality player to pass to on the right wing, but he seems obsessed with getting the ball to Jack?
I could understand it if he was on the left in a 3, would be natural to look wide to Grealish in that case.
But its been the same all season and it doesnt seem like it will change anytime soon. If we had our right central midfielder doing the same it would be utterly predictable.
I agree, but I'd also point out that he spends most of the time on the left hand side of the pitch, so Grealish is going to be a natural passing combination there. I actually don't think this is a bad thing, they're both very intelligent players and in this system they're going to be close to each other. What we need to do is to get a similar relationship going between Ndiaye and whoever our right-sided number 8 is (whether that's Iroegbunum, Rohl, Garner or even Armstrong at some point).
In my post above I just said that would be predictable. The play needs to be mixed and it can really slow the play with KDH and Grealish.
Best game for ages from him feel was alot more balance in the midfield as we had more players pushing forward. Like the first goal with tim then gana getting it after with both getting in the box. Has been a problem in the midfield as kdh been just isolated in that 10 and has looked lost felt moyes played more of a three and it got the best out of everyone
Its been obvious since he signed that he shouldnt be and couldnt be a 10.
Also in the poll i made he got around 3% of the vote as a 10. So almost anyone could see it, game after game.
Hopefully Moyes has realised this.
Its been tiring to read certain posters saying KDH has been "fantastic" all season when he has not been effective. Constantly praising Moyes for everything.
The points dropped so far are astonishing with this failed experiment.
Hopefully now thats the end of it, now were seeing Moyes praised for something that was obvious to most aside from the Moyes bum kissers.
