Nora Mason & her sister Joan lived at number 26 Kemlyn Road, Liverpool FC offered homeowners cash incentives so they could demolish their homes to make way for a new stand. Everyone on the street took the offer from the football club except for two stubborn old ladies (and rightly so). Their property became the only one inhabited on the street representing a symbol of ultimate defiance. They refused to sell their home for over 10 years until 1990 when the sisters finally accepted an offer and then retired to Southport. With this news Liverpool FC could finally begin to build the new stand which was completed in 1992
I think that their attitude should be acknowledged and applauded for standing their ground. Not only did the club pressure them but some fans also with their windows being smashed
Never change lurkers.
