2025/26 David Moyes

Yeah, it's like the people who seem to think that every single time we lose, if we'd have set up how they think we should have done, then we definitely wouldn't have lost. It's the easiest gig in the world that. It's easy saying we wouldn't have lost a game if we'd have done x,y & z, because we will never know if that claim is actually true. Doesn't stop people acting like it's absolutely true though.

It is absolutely true that we would’ve had a better chance of winning with Grealish or Ndiaye in the team instead of McNeil, and a left back on the pitch instead of our 37 year old wooden legged Claptain Marvel.

My worry is - admittedly, its scarring from Blue Bill era - we've torn down the structure and rebuilt it exactly how Moyes wanted it.

Everything to Moyes tastes. So if it does go south (and i am far from panicking), I hope the club are already monitoring managers who will fit the scope of how we need to he going forward.

Lots of positives off the pitch. The season is still a positive start IF we win on Monday, if not, its has became a poor start and all the positive energy hss evaporated.

Coleman at Left Back, honestly.
I look at the position West Ham are in now and get a bit worried about our future post Moyes.

Generally, better players have a getter chance to win a football match.

If we play Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall, Pickford, NDiaye and Beto vs West Ham, we'll have a better chance of winning.

He could have made 2-3 changes, but never 7. Destroyed any balance, too many players unfamiliar - especially when you're lashing the likes of Coleman left back.

Ultimately, the manager chose to field a significantly weakened team, away to a Premier League team. They were on their arse an we give them every opportunity to find their feet.

30+ years now, we absolutely can't be doing that - especially this season when we're mid table, and half the league are in Europe.
I personally think that too much frustation and anger is being levelled at Moyes when the truth is somewhere in the middle. Moyes made some questionable choices such as Coleman at LB but also players that *should* be good enough to come in and play like McNeil and Alcaraz, underperformed hugely and let him and us down.

I just disagree with the arrogance comments which are levelled at him over the team selection. I don't see it as that.

Buying Tyler Dibling instead of a decent striker will be our downfall this season
Not necessarily a striker, but we needed an attacker who is much more direct with a lot more pace. I'm not sure what our recruitment was last summer. We went from the lad at Lyon who is extremely quick to Dibling who is a completely different player, closer to Grealish in style. Our forwards would benefit a lot from some proper service into the box

The team has no pace and our signings have to helped that. Which I find quite incredible to be honest.

I think the team selection was either arrogant or incredibly misguided. But to then say you have no regrets after they played terribly, is certainly arrogance IMO.

Well, I hadn't said arrogant but I do agree with any comment which does - ultimately a manager of a club which hasn't won a trophy in over 30 years, fielding an undeniably weakened team away to Premier League opposition is arrogant, though id prefer to describe as stupid.

My hope this season was on the league cup - factoring in apparent appetite from the club and the top half of the league all being in Europe. Moyes pissed that away.

You've said this a lot, but think you're putting too much stock into De Rossi - sounds like it just went toxic/off field issues there. Perhaps Koeman like. They went for fan choice, and he wasn't suited. I think they've learned to ignore fans, and settled on an older head who'll play the averages. Moyes won't go anywhere this season.
Oh dear sweet Jesus no, please don't spring benitez on us again. No means No!

Maybe so, but then I'm sure he'd have been slated if Myko hobbled off after 50 minutes, and it still doesn't mean we defo would have won. We had both Grealish and Ndiaye on for quite a big chunk of the match and we still never managed any meaningful efforts on target.

I witnessed loads of people saying some fringe players needed to come in for this. You keep those players happy by giving them chances and these are the games most managers use to do that - it's not exclusive to Moyes. Wolves made even more changes than us.

If Myko hadn't been having fitness issues, I reckon he'd have started. He had no problem picking the first choice right back.

I agree on Mcneil though. He offers something as a 10 but is generally useless out wide. I don't want to see him start there again unless there's no other option.
