2025/26 David Moyes

I genuinely don't think they wanted to go through at first, i think they were writing the game off until it became evident they could win it and then they obviously wanted to do that. Regardless though, what people are complaining about is misplaced arrogance rather than just arrogance itself. If we'd made 7 changes and still won then our arrogance wouldn't have been misplaced, so nobody would care. Make the changes and lose and it's a different thing. It's a results business, that's always going to be the way you're judged.

Well you would do if you keep getting pumped every week wouldn't you?

Their changes were logical to make; ours were insane.

Couldn't care less about Wolves mate, only Everton. Our squad is nowhere near decent or big enough to have the luxury of doing that which is why we got battered in that first half. Starting a game against any PL team with the likes of Pickford, Grealish, Dewsbury, Ndiaye warming the bench is incompetent and arrogant. Get the job done first and then let them have a rest. Bringing them on after the damage is done is making the job twice as hard as it should have been. Confidence and momentum is all shot and you are playing catchup which tends to fail more than it succeeds.

It was really poor from Moyes.
It's all a narrative based on what happened though. The side put out had more than enough to win the game and players who should be doing better like McNeil seriously underperformed. I expect Moyes is as annoyed and disappointed as we all are at losing because he's probably now realised that he can't rely on some of the more senior pros that came in last night to step up and do the job when it matters.

I don't understand the point about not being decent or big enough when we review players that came in for us last night - Dibling was one of the highest rated young talents in England last season, McNeil and Alcaraz were both good performers last season and we played 3 of 4 of our best defence available defence currently with Garner in his natural position. I feel like because we lost people are swinging far too much in the direction of us putting out a team that was on par with an U-21 side when that's just not the case at all.

What I would agree with is that he needed to be smarter with some of the changes. I think if he's going to play Dibling/Alcaraz/McNeil then he needs to start Beto instead of Barry as Barry needs the more experienced players of Grealish and Ndiaye to help him out a bit more. If he's going to start McNeil then he needs to start a natural LB like Myko to help rather than Coleman out there or he needs to start Aznou who can bomb up and down the wing. Slight tweaks to the side but I don't think it was an arrogant or incompetent selection. He's been let down hugely by some players last night who should be doing better, aswell as perhaps getting one or two things wrong himself.
