2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Who did you play for out of interest ?
‘DaveK of the Rovers’, I’m assuming, that is…

….terrific chance he spurned in the first half, was surprised he didn’t at least hit the target given it was on his best side. Arguably easier than the goal he scored at Wolves.
He could do a pull back on that occasion and there were a huge gap of space in the center of the box.

Still a big chance for him as well.

Gutted

I thought he was gutted as well and headed that header into the wrong direction which started their 2nd goal moment later after his big chance.

He had a decent second half yesterday but I'm not sold on him at all up to this point so far. I would agree with others and say he isn't a 10. He keeps play ticking but I don't see the creativity that is supposed to come from your typical 10. I find he goes missing during long stretches of games

Other players would have been burned at the stake for pissing that header away at midfield that led to Ekitikes goal, yet there's barely any mention of it in here

Want him to come good but unimpressed so far, personally

Only seen the game before due to work, what a gift of a chance that was and a dreadful miss.

We don't get many chances at their crap hole, so when they come along you've got to take them, or at the very least make the keeper work.

On reflection, I believe the issue with midfield is that we are to narrow. There were times on Saturday where D-Hall Gana and Garner were occupying the same 2m column up the pitch. Because our wide players want to play wide it leaves channels for runners to easily bypass our CM and drag players out of position into action stations very early. This disruption has a chain effect where we've players second guessing who is covering who and we get dithers as a move unfolds. We don't have the raw speed in defence to push up enough to cut this space down and support the midfield trying to push up and occupy more advanced territory, when the MF sits a bit deeper it isolates our flanks that bit more, and because neither LB or RB is attack minded enough to work round and up the pitch to support our wide players they then get frustrated by being easily doubled up on. When this occurs on the pitch is when we are out of ideas and start lumping balls for Beto to shrug at. Maybe it is helped by Branthwaite coming back in, and maybe Patterson or Aznou will step up and break through as more attacking and good passing fullbacks.
But as we stand, catching us in no-mans land (having defense and midfield unconfident in one another) is the best way to get at us because we suddenly stop playing and become allergic to possession.

With the players we have I am unsure how this is remedied. The crowd won't have Illy and Grealish shackled by overly working back defending, we don't have a Drogba type that'll hold the ball up in spite of the efforts of their two CB's, we won't be getting overlapping runs and crosses out of Myko and O'B, so we're constrained for now. I suppose we're lucky to have the quality we do that should see us able to out work and out bluster the majority of the bottom half without much of an issue.

Got to hit the target and as you say make the Keeper work, he doesn't fumble many though, KDH hit it early and on another day could of caught Allison out, the conditions underfoot could have played a part in the accuracy of the strike.

Alcaraz is pushing for the place and has a knack for scoring important goals.
With both in the squad they are a vast improvement on what we had this time last season in terms of control of the ball and possession.

KDH makes more sense for me in the no 10 if we can get top fullback play. The problem is we do not have that and he isn't really a creative passer. I see no reason why he shouldn't be played deeper as his work rate has been excellent and he has been very good bar the first game. We need to get a good look at Dib now. Charly should see some time too. We need to suck it up and move O'Brien back centrally and get Jimmy at RB for the time being. Put the best team you can on the field. Drop one of Keane or Tarks.

I could have wrote that post myself, I’m still waiting to see what I must be missing from Dewsbury Hall that some other posters and fans are seeing, apart from that goal at Wolves I’m completely under whelmed by his performances up to now.

100% mate, amazing to have options like Alcaraz, Dibling on the bench. Players that offer something we haven't had for years.

Was actually going to come in here and say I think he's been quietly really really good. He's not a flashy player but he's been the one linking all of our attacking play together really and getting the ball into dangerous areas in the first place. Case in point, just went and looked and only 4 players have completed more passes into the box this season. I like him a lot.
