2025/26 David Moyes

We got around 6 points more than the season before, it was not the extraordinary jump that revisionist would have you believe, what was extraordinary was going from 72 to 47, a 25 point drop is unprecedented in PL history.
6 points is a lot in the final league table standings… at what point would you call it a jump? 7, 8, , 9 points? This is another argument but the level and quality of the football that season was an extraordinary jump and also the fan’s expectations and reaction of other teams to playing us. R/S. never fear a Moyes team unfortunately.

Interesting you focussed on the six point “jump” and didn’t mention the 25 point drop followed by a further 3 point drop.

Admittedly I’m biased, but the best most consistent team I’ve seen from Everton is Everton 07-09. I absolutely adore Joe Royle and love what he did between Nov 94’ and December 96’. But what Moyes did for us from 02-13 is unprecedented in most of the people on this forums life. So he gets all of my grace and latitude, I’ll be honest, if he’d of done worse than this I’d still support him, but for him to take over from Dyche (who I don’t think was as bad as some on here say) and have us as the 5th best team in the country since (points earned) then I won’t be crying because this Liverpool team (champions + £450m spent) beat us today when we gave our best performance at the pit in 5 years.

Every time we lose this thread blows up, it’s ridiculous. We beat wolves and West Ham, I guarantee the moaners won’t post a thing in here.

(That was a lot of brackets)

Compared to what our previous managers had, it's a fortune.
You can say what you like. The squad was in a dire state and this is just the cost of operating the business. Koeman, Silva, etc came into much healthier squads and had more freedom to sign players. Martinez ruined a great hand as well.

The negative attitude of some people will simply stink it up for the team. They deserve support, not moaning when we lose to perhaps the best team in the world in a close match.

You can say what you like. The squad is far better than what Benitez, Lampard, and Dyche had to contend with. Progress this season should be expected.
