Well...I woke up at 7am today so I could watch the match. It seemed to me that Liverpool was in complete control for most of the first half, and Everton didn't do enough when Liverpool got a bit disconnected for the first maybe 30 minutes of the second half. The announcers were talking about Liverpool's defensive woes, but they seemed to be a nuisance for the Everton attack. Still nice to see that goal in the second half, and Everton not allowing another goal.

Also, is it me, or does Graelish seem to fall down a lot?

Much improved second half — but we can’t start games like that

Night and day between how we played second half and what we saw last season. We looked far more controlled in possession, and with a bit of luck we might’ve nicked a draw. Credit to the players for showing real character to get back into it — having the likes of Jack and Dewsbury-Hall in the side makes a difference. They give confidence to their teammates and help settle things down.

Personally, I’d go with Garner and KDH in the middle against Wolves, Dibling on the right, and Ndiaye in the 10.

As much as I love him, David Moyes will never win at Anfield for as long as he lives. Doesn’t help that referees will go to whatever length to protect them but that was a classic case of only starting to play when we went a couple of goals down and they take their foot off the pedal slightly. We should have gone after them right from the off, they played a hard match in midweek and we should have been the team looking to do damage early.

I’d like to see Moyes try a couple of different things when our attack isn’t quite clicking rather than just swapping the strikers round. Grealish is brilliant but without a full back constantly overlapping he becomes predictable and doesn’t have the pace to get away once he beats a man. I’d love to see him in the middle with NDiaye back on the left. Maybe Dibling isn’t quite ready yet but I think our team will go up another level again once we get Dewbury-Hall deeper and NDiaye-Grealish-Dibling behind whichever striker.

Anyway, I’m just glad that in the end we didn’t disgrace ourselves and we got this cursed fixture out of the way nice and early. We really need to kick on now. I’m very happy with what we’re building despite the very obvious full back weaknesses that we didn’t address in the summer. Onwards and upwards.

Well, I for one am absolutely shocked by that…

…Shocked I tells ya!

That's his game though. He chases and tries to bully. It didn't work. He has nothing else in his locker.
Yeah it's sound if you put one over the top and he's having at least some 50-50's to chase for, he's big, strong, aggressive and can shift it.

But he didn't have those type of 50-50's to battle for in this game, none of those long balls we were doing for the majority of that first half were bothering their centre backs or goalie whatsoever - but that's not Beto's fault. That's just not the way to play against Liverpool as we shown in the second half.

I'm not denying that Beto is quite limited but I think sometimes our fans have a tendency to jump to the assumption that it's always the striker's fault and ignore other weak spots elsewhere.

He draws the foul. It’s a part of his game and it’s useful👍🏻

I think oftentimes that is correct, but let's be honest, we spend a lot of money right behind him and to expect them to constantly kick 50/50 balls into space for him is not logical.

Glad we turned up second half, it would have been a much more difficult day had they had a free run in the second like they did the first. 4-0 would have been momentum killing.

Not sure what the hoodoo is away in the first half, leeds and the rs today. There's a problem.
