Games like today aren’t inspiring any players of real quality to consider playing for us. It’s winning and playing in Europe. There are tons of shiny new stadiums. So that’s not a draw for them. Any aspiring player out there watching this today isn’t drooling to play for Everton.

It's not games against the current champions that define how good a team we are at the moment. We've brought in some very good players over the summer and we've shown huge improvement but a game against Liverpool this early in the season was never going to be one for Everton to go out and show their very best form. It was always about not getting beat. The second half will be about not getting beat any more than 2-0.
