2025/26 Thierno Barry

He’ll be our starter by Christmas. Has taken every step up in his stride so far. Needs a period to acclimatise and maybe even a bit of time in the gym and he’ll get to grips with the physicality.

Looks a far more intelligent footballer than Beto already. Need to see what he’s like in front of goal but we’ve not seen enough yet.

I must have missed when the Championship became a better league than La flippin Liga, did that happen recently?
It's not about the league it's about the player. As it stands there are at least three Championship strikers who do a better job. That may change with time but unfortunately we don't have the luxury of being able to wait and see.

We were winning about 7-0. I was trying to get on the pitch but Barry couldn't hear his number being called and couldn't find my way on. I did once dream about Kevin mirallas scoring at white hart lane the night before we played them. I remember telling the guy next to me before the game how he scored and he thought I was a drunken loon. Then he scored exactly as I described it. 😂
Did you have a good bet on Mirallas scoring that goal? Pity you never got on in that other game you dreamt about, did Barry score any of those seven goals?

No. It's not possible to bet on how someone scores I don't think. Barry was so bad he couldn't find his way off the pitch. Don't worry though I'll be ready for tomorrow.. Just need to get some boots from decathlon in Alicante tomorrow at 10am and fly in

I know I sound like a broken record here but I don't understand thinking we don't have the luxury of being able to wait and see. That's like the one luxury we do have. We aren't getting relegated, we aren't competing for europe, we aren't in desperate need of anything for right now. We don't have the money or the pull to buy the cream of the crop. A club in our position needs to buy a few lottery tickets and hope you get a couple bangers. It's the only way to try and go up a level.

So after today's game we will probably have won two and lost two and unless you watch the game with rose tinted glasses we were fortunate to win the first game at Bramley Moor. Relegation isn't magically out of the picture,so having tried and tested players up front would have been the pragmatic thing to do. Having two CFs neither of whom could trap a bag of cement will put more and more pressure on the defence. Let's see how this plays out until Xmas. I've a feeling we'll be back in the market by then.

We are a club is a position were we need to invest in young assets and make a future profit mate - most of our signings aren’t for right now. They are investments with the future and future to fit in mind.

Really only Grealish and KDH I think have been brought in with the expectation of hitting the ground running right now. If the younger ones contribute well and good, but I think we will see a gentle easing of those players and minimum expectation.
Shouldn't be interested in future player profits right now. Need to be hitting top 6 NOW! That's where the money is. That's how you get to spend 3 and 4million on the best players; as well as attracting the top players. Players for the future are a luxury once you hit the big time.

Who would you have signed?

You,sir, are an idiot.

I dont expect to see the best from a signing like this for a season.

Not sure on this race to write off our players - we need to give them every chance to succeed.

Agree that we are light up front but look at the money spent on starting strikers through the PL ... I guess we spread that money across a more attacking squad instead.

That's the best way for us too grow though, bringing younger players in and them improving/growing over a couple of seasons then being moved on for a profit. We can't afford to go buying ready made types tbh, look at Grealish, City want £50m for a 30 year old, that's bonkers and would be horrendous recruitment regardless of how well he plays this season hence he is only loan, that fee needs to be less than half of that to be viable. We might sit in 6th atm but over the course of the season I reckon it will even out a fair bit, our squad is nowhere near that level yet, not to be consistent on a regular basis. This rebuild is going to take time whether people like it or not.
