Last night the gas fire went on. Tend to use the central heating sparingly, to warm the bathroom in particular in cold weather. Yes I am a tight arse when it comes to the heating bills.

One of my best mates is gas fitter and he said one of the big reasons peoples boilers fail going into winter is because the lay dormant all summer.

He said even if it's for 20 minutes you should run it during the warm weather.
Yep, although we have an immersion switch, we run our prehistoric boiler for an hour every day throughout the year for the hot water, which just about keeps it ticking over.

If ever I've had to call for a repair, they ask what error messages it has on the display. I kind of laugh, then realise this boiler is probably older than the person I'm talking to.

Yes mate. Don't even know what weather would make me put pants on. Had them on today with a coat braving the torrential rain up here today.

But to be fair if you seen my legs you'd understand why they're always on display.
Im a shorts guy 11 months of the year too. Blood just runs hot, or maybe my arteries are clogged.

I just pay £60 for a good sweep per year - done by hand & not the strimmer type on a drill which don't touch the sides - cant beat the old rods & a big brush on the end ;)

Yep, first time I put ours on last year it made a whirring noise and died.

Was only a motor, but still cost me 300 notes.
