Look at his highlights. Getting on the ball, running with the ball, beating multiple players, pinging 60 yard passes. Never seen HA demonstrate any of those skills. He just gets it and gives it simple. QPR were also low down in the table when Tim played for them. HA scored 1 in 15 from Preston. Tim scored 2 in 32 for QPR. Not that I would ever judge a centre mid purely on goals scored. How many u21 caps does HA have? The same as Tim.Just utter nonsense he got 2 goals in 32, games for qpr and got mixed reviews
Armstrong was weeks after his 18th birthday trusted in a relegation battle
You keep saying about Tim playing for Englands under 19’s etc
But he didn’t get a cap for the under 21’s
This is what I’m pushing back on. Rodwell, Gordon, Barkley, Rooney, Jeffers, even Branch and Cadamaterie, they all showed something in the premier league before people got carried away. HA has shown very little and people are going all in on him. It’s like a young lad dancing with a girl for the first time and wanting to marry her. He’s absolutely nowhere near ready for premier league footy. People are going all in here already after a few good glimpses.
Massive potential, incredibly interesting skill set and versatility. 19 and still clearly filling out/finding his best role.
Jesus Christ I hate Evertonians sometimes.
I’ve got to tell you football fans have a tendency to overrate home grown young talent way more than underrate it? If every player that I have been told is the next Rooney actually was we’d be top of the league. You can only prove yourself ready for the premier league when you've been given a run in the league to show it..
At the end of the day it all comes down to what moyes see's better for his development, the decision has already been made so we have to trust in moyes. For all we know he might of had a big say in the decision himself..
I wanted him to stay but whatever is best for his progression is the right decision..
If you cant see a talent, than maybe you just don't want to..
Don’t forget Cadamaterie. He actually had a bigger initial impact than Rooney.Jose Baxter, Jonjoe Kenny, Nick Chadwick, Beni Baningme, John Paul Kissock, Lewis Warrington, Callum Connolly, Conor McAleny, Tyrias Browning, Nathan Holland, Stanley Mills, James Wallace.
In a way, what your saying is right, everybody wants a homegrown talent to come through and make the mark. And thats not just us, thats every set of fans..I’ve got to tell you football fans have a tendency to overrate home grown young talent way more than underrate it? If every player that I have been told is the next Rooney actually was we’d be top of the league.
I agree. I just haven’t seen him do that much on the pitch to impress me so far. If he wasn’t 18 no one would be talking about him at all. I remember Donnie Van De Beek being talked up after one decent performance for us and that was in the premier league. HA has only really played against lower league teams for us and he has been ok without doing anything particularly special. If he was a Liverpool or Chelsea youth player their fans would even know his name. We are just desperate as a fan base and that clouds people’s judgement and leads them to see what they want to see. For example, the 15 year at Arsenal comes on in the premier league gets on the ball a lot and immediately looks at home. I just haven’t seen that from HA. He doesn’t get involved enough or do enough on the ball as yet.In a way, what your saying is right, everybody wants a homegrown talent to come through and make the mark. Tho I personally dont think there is that big an issue here, alot of players that have been mentioned weren't players that fans had already jumped on board with, it was more we just wanted to see them get a chance..
When players get brought into first team training then they are obviously doing something right, so you naturally want to see it yourself.
When it comes to players like Armstrong, you see it straight away..
The lad looks at home on the pitch, he isn't blinded by the lights of what's infront of him, he plays at his own pace, he knows his pass before receiving the ball, he doesn't look awestruck by opponents as he's confident in his own ability.
He doesn't look out of place on the pitch, without checking wiki for his age, it wouldn't be a question you'd need the answer too..
He seems a very grounded, level headed young lad, who has very high ceiling of what he could reach.
he just needs to be given that room to reach it, which is why i would have liked to keep him..
There is more reasons why certain players don't make it that are totally unrelated to there actual ability, its about managing the ability in the right way, with the right people around you..
being grounded/level headed and always looking at what more they can bring to their game is probably the most important thing in football.
ignore the hype and just get on the field and play your game..
If your good enough, your old enough..
Spot onMy opinion in a nutshell. Thank you.
Age means nothing Joe Royle played in a FA CUP FINAL aged only 19 years old debut aged at 16 years old .... we sold him to City & he regained his England cap back ....I agree. I just haven’t seen him do that much on the pitch to impress me so far. If he wasn’t 18 no one would be talking about him at all. Yeah he hasn't been given enough time for us to properly see him, but as a club and after our recent years, there is always gonna be a concern on throwing a young lad straight in, Arsenal, Liverpool, don't have that concern hanging over them..I agree. He will get under 21 caps you can bet on it. Also you forgetting a few things, Harrison was basically playing holding midfielder at derby and sitting in front of the back 4, not playing box to box which he probably will at Preston as the manager has mentioned it, he’s just got 2 goals in 2 starts for England. I didn’t watch Tim once at QPR I was only going off what I read off QPR fansLook at his highlights. Getting on the ball, running with the ball, beating multiple players, pinging 60 yard passes. Excellent post.Yeah he hasn't been given enough time for us to properly see him, but as a club and after our recent years, there is always gonna be a concern on throwing a young lad straight in, Arsenal, Liverpool, don't have that concern hanging over them..
As for the lad at Arsenal, the only reason he is hitting the headlines is because of age and the club he's at, when it comes to what they have actually showed, there's no difference in what your saying about Armstrong. The arsenal Lad hasn't showed he's a world beater, we've been told he's a world beater...
( And because it's Arsenal its obviously a guaranteed fact )
One thing i will say witch might not make sense to people, is the best thing Armstrong could have done was take that shot instead of passing, because it showed straight away after, that his head didnt drop, it didnt effect his game and he instantly made a different decision next time when plenty of young people might have bottled under the pressure, so it shows the maturity in his game..
And you are right, I am desperate for a lad to break through, I still want to see that beautiful part of football can still happen before Academy's become nothing more then a weapon against PSR...
If I am wrong about him, I will hold my hands up and accept it, I won't try and conjure up some kind of reason why it didn't work out, if I'm wrong than I'm wrong..
Its a new era and we deserve one our own...
We also know that younger at Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd and Chelsea will get a lot more publicity than an Everton youngster and that’s a fact. The kid who scored for Liverpool, he may go on to be a world better but 6 months ago I watched Everton under 18’s v Liverpool and the commentators kept going on about this kid and he did nothing and Everton won the game.Yeah he hasn't been given enough time for us to properly see him, but as a club and after our recent years, there is always gonna be a concern on throwing a young lad straight in, Arsenal, Liverpool, don't have that concern hanging over them..

Interesting that bar rodwell they’re all attacking players or forwards, James Vaughan still holds the prem youngest goal scorer. I do think between the early 90’s and late noughties it was a different time and especially at Everton we used a lot of young players andThis is what I’m pushing back on. Spot on assessment this for me.….his efforts at a struggling Derby were quite remarkable given how precarious their position was and not forgetting it was his first taste of open-age football. To have the maturity, attitude and quality to be a regular starter in that scenario speaks volumes.
I don’t think the decision to send him out again totally reflects where he is in the pecking order. I’d imagine he’s seen as having a much higher ceiling than Iroegbunam, but the acquisition of Rohl was the deciding factor.
We are now in a position to pay £20m for a player further on in his development, I think the club will have a very close watching brief on Armstrong, they’ve tied him down on a long-term deal because they know he could be a talent.
