Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I'm currently on the free service with Spotify and it's getting worse, with longer and more frequent ads, terrible service on my mobile, plus I can't use it on my PC (which I've discovered now is most likely the browser issue}. There's a number of reasons why I've chosen Apple. A lot of people say the audio quality is better than Spotify. They certainly pay a lot more to the artists than Spotify (who are notoriously the worst). Spotify have recently introduced new T&C allowing them greater powers over artists materials uploaded to their platform. Plus the owner earlier this year invested half a billion dollars in an arms company linked to Israel. I know the likes of Apple and Amazon aren't angels either but sometimes you opt for the lesser of 2 evils. Spotify also pay very little to emerging artists (which is the bulk of what I listen to) and indeed nothing at all if they don't meet their minimum stream criteria. There's also a bigger issue with AI music being uploaded than with other platforms. I saw a video the other day that claimed 30% of weekly new music uploads are AI generated. In numbers that equated to something like 30,000 songs every day.

The bottom line is that more and more artists are removing their catalogue from Spotify and many new artists will not pay to upload stuff if there's little chance of getting a return.
Well that was a comprehensive answer!

I have the same Apple issue as you had (wrong date of birth) and the email linked to my account is long gone. This is why I went to Spotify but after your lesson above I need to look at changing for multiple reasons.

In better news I managed to get a ticket to see the girls in Plymouth in October. I bought it pre-sale and it was all very straightforward. Too straightforward in fact. Last time their tour tickets went on sale it was mayhem, people stuck in queues then getting kicked off the website. Shows selling out in hours and extra shows added. None of that this time and everyone saying getting tickets was so easy.

They are playing bigger venues but then there are less shows. I just feel that their stock is a bit lower than it was last time around, when their album was newly released and they were getting loads of hype. They're probably getting half the streams they were a year ago and the last 2 singles haven't exactly set the world alight. The last has been out over a week and hasn't even had a single radio play yet in the UK.

Sorry. You'll have to stop asking me questions. I've got too much time on my hands obviously.

I'm going with Qobuz when this at the end of the month, it has the best quality out of them all, they pay the most to artists and it is apparently a lot more listener based as opposed to AI which a lot use now. If you buy a year sub in one, which I am going to, it works out slightly cheaper than all the others

The app is a lot nicer than Spotify too, you feel like an adult and not a 5 year old in a sweet shop. They also have magazines/articles etc on the app which seems pretty cool

Silly question but is it the same huge choice of music?

No idea on the browser Blue. The problem is the Windows version I am on is ancient and Microsoft stopped servicing it probably 2 years ago. They wanted you to buy the latest windows but it wasn't worth the outlay on my old unit. So I haven't been receiving any updates and can't even upload new apps to my PC. Anyway all this has forced me to get my arse in gear and get new stuff.
Ah seven years is the average before they don't support them and all kinds of stuff can get into the computer then if you are online a lot ,from what I know the later updates are mostly security ones as the earlier ones have sorted out the bugs .Be careful how you dispose of your old one if you have been banking on it ,which is another reason to get shut .One last thing don't by a mac now ,there is a new one coming within the next few weeks with a different chip ( brain/ engine ) and it will far outlast one on the market now .If you want to go for itunes that is the best but also expensive . You could use that as your hifi .

Money laundering H. Men's barbers are renowned for it, similar to tanning salons.
About a year ago two Turkish barbers appeared on our High street, plus a Kurdish and another Turkish about a mile away. The two originals , called 1&2 , rarely have customers , there’s about four young men covering them who are on their phones most of the day. It fits all the stuff they highlight for money laundering.

I was in Galashiels last week , same there , half a dozen at least in the town centre.

I purposely didn't mention nationality but you pretty much nailed it. I could hazard a guess at Anj's beauty parlours too.😀
