Net spend is so boring.
I don't agree with that, I don't think. I think there are some short memories here in terms of our ownership situation, money available, talent available. We were in crisis last summer. We had a net spend of +30 million, in some ways got a bit lucky investing a relatively small amount on a player whose value was at its lowest (Ndiaye).
It's easy to forget where we were and how we got to where we are now.
Indeed.
Imagine the summer just gone if we again had to make a profit like all the summers before it, with an AWOL owner - we'd have been bang in trouble this season, even despite the two previous seasons.
Only so many times you can go to the well.
I felt we'd be bang in trouble the last few years based on the squad we had - mainly the final third and inability to create/score goals. I think you'd have to be a real misery guts to still think that now. I mean, compare our final third now to previous years!
It is that piece of shifting scenarios.
In Dyches time here we were on our backside, no money, us against the world, selling our best players, no investment - its easy to forget how bad it was. You also forget he had 6 months left on his contract and he was never getting new one - he knew it the players, knew it and the fans knew it because of that I think he lost all authority and position became untenable.
Im Moyes's biggest fan - but would he come in here in Jan, if Moshiri was still the owner and had to deal with the austerity, adversity and limits faced by Dyche - i dont think he does - lets be honest, he came because TFG made the commitments we saw actioned in the summer.
I'm not sure which part you aren't agreeing with mate. I'm both praising and critiquing.
You have a point there.
Maybe he didnt need them 10 players afterall and a record club transfer spend, spending more than the previous 7 years combined after all if he could get what he did get out of the last lot what he did![]()
Someone will find a way of saying this is a "hit piece" and part of a shadowy anti-Everton conspiracy too!Another piece.
'Everton could become a formidable side this season and, just as importantly for the fans, an entertaining side to watch. For the first time in years, the home crowd’s roar has been driven not by anxious relief at full time, but by genuine excitement for what’s to come.'

From boring to roaring: how David Moyes revitalised Everton
Moyes has brought a dull team to life by giving creative players such as Jack Grealish the freedom to flourishwww.theguardian.com
But if you take a step back, mid-table would be a really good stride forward. David Moyes will manage those expectations.
I think I read the other day that they’ve now spent more than any other English club, ever.Have they done an article on the reds mega spending?
