Today’s Football 25/26 Season

I've been watching England for over 40 years. One thing has never changed: the manager is ALWAYS the problem - no matter who he is. Strange that, because they've had a lot of managers in that time, yet every single one of them was apparently the cause of English footballing woe.

The players have been getting away with murder for decades. England has produced many fine players over the years - but not nearly as many as the media and many of their fans thinks they have...
Think we're a similar age. 1986 world cup was my favourite ever despite the way we got eliminated. As a 7 year old the excitement, wall chart and Everton influence was incredible. All downhill from there 😂

I've seen us at three World Cups. I'm 53. I'll be very surprised if I see us at another.

John Delaney hollowed Irish soccer out from the inside. The corruption and mismanagement was at third world levels. In a country where most of our best athletes play hurling or Gaelic football, we couldn't afford that. Rugby and GAA are run professionally with the best organisers at national and local level. The local soccer team is more likely to be run by a fella recently out of jail. I wouldn't be holding out much hope for Irish soccer...
Read that book about Delaney's antics. Unbelievable corruption in plain sight :(....

Remember getting excited buying materrazi, dacourt, Collins, possibly Bakayoko? Still didn't improve. Pretty sure that's when I accepted we were cursed.
Just 'cos I was looking into the Smith era signings, an 11 is possible.

Pettinger
Watson Gough Weir Pistone
Carsley
Alexandersson Gravesen Pembridge
Campbell Ferguson
No spare GK
Stubbs
Naysmith
xavier
Gascoigne
Hughes
Radzinski

They weren't all world beaters, but some of Smith's signings were instrumental to Moyes.

Proper cracking one out over Anderson, that's one of the reasons people think England should do better, okay players are made out to be world class

I haven't seen a single person making out he's world class though tbf.

I see this a lot, people claiming that England players are over hyped when I just never see it.

They're just pretty good, with a smattering of occasionally very good ones. And that's pretty much how they're represented
