Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Rather rubbish this, outside of two very sweet hits. NIR simply do not have enough weapons to trouble sides, and Germany are so one dimensional and mechanical, not a good watch, expected Germany win but it's not saying a lot.

It’s a good point mate, Bobby Charlton record prob stood for 50 years, then broke twice within a few years since the turn of the century.

Frequency and dumbing down the#opposition in qualifying have muddied the waters comparatively. ;)
This is very true. Miroslav Klose, a really fine player, broke records for Germany and at the World Cup. But in no universe was he a better player or more lethal finisher than Gerd Müller or Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, both Ballon d'Or winners. He just played more games against more inferior opposition than they did (71 in 137 matches compared to Müller's 68 in 62 and Rummenigge's 45 in 95). Cursory research comfirms as much. He scored 212 goals for his clubs in 529 appearances - a very fine record. But it pales against the other two, as you imagine it would (despite his records). Rummenigge, the most gifted German attacker ever, scored 220 in only 424 games. Müller, the greatest goalscorer of all time (even if he did nothing outside the box), scored an unbelievable 487 in 555. Even allowing for the era Müller played in, when defenses weren't what they became in the 1980s and onwards, that's genius-level scoring.

The inflation of modern international football goalscoring is underlined by the scoring exploits of another really good player, Lukas Podolski. He managed 49 goals for Germany - in 130 matches. But he wouldn't make the top 100 German players ever. He scored 168 goals in his club career. He played nearly 600 matches...

I love this so much

"Wazza" gave his response, very humble, makes him 10x better than Owen although Owen was just a speed merchant, not a patch on R9 Ronaldo or Romario who are the best Forwards to ever exist in my lifetime (would love to be old enough to see Dixie in his prime)
