January Transfer Window 2026

Looking to next 2 windows, I reckon we need about 7 more players to make us a Europe challenging outfit:

- upgrades on Coleman and Patterson
- upgrade on Keane
- upgrade on Myko
- upgrade on Tim and new DM to phase out Gana
- upgrade on Dwight.

Plus possibly one more forward option

From end of transfer window rumours, looks like we tried for Omar El Halili ( RB) and Yasser Asprilla ( RW) so wouldn’t be surprised if we went back for them in Jan. And possibly Ake if he’s not getting game time at City.

Moyes commented on how good the South American players were during the club World Cup and typically the South American clubs like doing business in Jan so again wouldn’t surprise me if we made some moves in that market in the next window.

Hopefully we’ll continue our good start and will look like an attractive proposition…

I think as weve strengthened the attacking positions the attention will now be focused on the defence.

Obviously weve signed Aznou and Mykolenko is rumoured to be getting an extension so that ticks off left back.

In the deeper central midfield, Garner is also rumoured fo be getting an extension and I think Armstrong will be competing for the same/similar next season so I dont think anything happens there.

Right back of course we have O'Brien, Coleman and Patterson so need 1 maybe 2 players there.

Centre back, Tarkoswki will be 33 in November and I believe he'll get an extension. Branthwaite of course is a starter and Keane is 2 months younger than Tarkowski and probably gets an extension too.

I expect 3 signings maximum whether 2 Right backs & 1 centre back or vice versa.

Cant see anything else and would be surprised if we made more than 1 or 2 signings in January.

In fact I think January may be a good time to move players on.

The knock on effect of Patterson being a bad signing is heavy. Was it bad recruitment or just bad luck?
Think both would say over paid because had lack of experience up in scotland and was the backup rb. Did show some talent and injuries and other things held him back here. Similar to chermitti

I think for a lot of players, early environment can make or break a player. Nate had the injury issues which are well documented, but he also had a manager in Dyche who as it turned out probably wasn't too fond of him. I definitely think his confidence is shot and it will take a massive change for him to salvage his career here.

It must be both. He struggled in a relegation fighting Everton team, so was never gonna cut it in the team we have now. Injuries haven’t helped but no one’s really thought he’s gonna be a first choice when fit.

I don't think we become a consistent Europe challenging side with Garner as a starter in midfield rather than a solid versatile squad player, or without replacing Gana before his legs start going.

We have a great attack and solid defense when everyone is fit now. Our best midfield pairing is a ~36 year old and a player who wouldn't get anywhere near starting for the best 11ish sides in the league (not counting us).

Not saying I think it'll happen in January, but it's easily the place the most money needs to be spent on starters next.

Think with every signing even established players there is a element of risk. Do they settle or their family, do they recapture the form that had at their previous club etc.

Patterson is on his 4th Everton manager in almost as many years. The constant upheaval, his young age and injury after injury when it seemed he was about to have a run.

Seems to have all gone against him. Sadly really he likely leaves in the summer. Really thought we had a new Coleman for the next decade.

I think Garner has gone up a level under Moyes. If he continues this level of performance he should be in the next England squad. Then next summer Armstrong is back to compete with him.

Gana It appears is going to be replaced wifh Rohl or KDH.

Cant see any big moves there, perhaps if we hadnt signed Rohl.
