Afternoon gang. Hope all are well and haven't missed me too much. I haven't been in the best of health over the last week with a stomach issue. Not been great but feeling a lot better yesterday and today..
Quite a bit been happening in my world, which is very unusual. Don't think I've mentioned it before but my South Africa trip in February may not be happening. My neighbour has a bit of a health scare which is being checked out and may stop him travelling. Also he's been quoted over a £100 per night by the property owner for an extra person staying, which I won't be prepared to pay. He said he'd clarify this when actually out there so it may be a last minute thing.
In the meantime I've started trying to organise my diary for my October trip up to Liverpool, which is more stressful that arranging the trip itself. Plus my eldest sister is 80 in January and is having a party which she'll come to Liverpool for. So I'll b back up in January for that and it's Cal's birthday 3 day's later so I'll stick around for that and spend it with friends.
Seeing as the main interest in my life is music I've decided to upgrade my equipment and have been looking on line for hifi stuff. There's just too much choice and I need to factor in the limited space I'll have when I downsize. Bit miffed with Spotify too for a number of reasons so had decided to pay for Apple Music. Problem is I seem to have an old account with them linked to my normal email address which has been blocked, and I can't get it sorted as they seem to have my birth date wrong. Nothing ever seems straightforward.
Then the girls totally surprised me by announcing a new tour this Autumn, and they're doing Plymouth Pavilion on Dec 4th. So I've requested my pre sale code and need to get mentally prepared for 10am Tuesday. These pre sale events take stress levels to a different sphere. Wish me Luck. Hopefully Plymouth's full of Wurzell fans. The girls have also dropped a new single and if you're not moved by the music video then you're a harder person than me. Yes I'm talking to you Jazzy.
Hope you all enjoy your toffee free weekend. These dates used to offer some respite but for once I find myself missing it.
Don’t keep us in suspense- what’s happeningOMG - Looks like I have breaking news!

I'm sorry mate but I find it difficult to support this. I've never been a fan of their music as it's just not my thing, but I did like their vibe and enjoyed watching a couple of streams of their live show. And of course I also 100% agree with their stance on the genocide going on in Gaza. But they crossed a line for me when those 2 amateur videos emerged of them waving the Hamas flag and then calling for local MPs to be killed.@Barnfred 55
Kneecap are now the advert music for the international football on RTE, the intro into the break then back into again. HOOD is the song.
They need support now and Irish people are giving it![]()
Well I managed a spicy meal last night together with beer and wine so I must be better.Hope you’re continuing to improve and are feeling much better
Still there but probably sinking in the quagmire after today's deluge.Don’t keep us in suspense- what’s happening. I’ve been watching way too many crime series not to be making up my own outcome.
Of course they have been foolish re the flag incident and yes crossed the line with the MP comment. However the description of them as vile individuals is a bit strong. I do half know one of them as they live in Armagh close to my relation. He is an articulate fella and very personable at that. Re supporting Hamas, no one supports them here, no one.I'm sorry mate but I find it difficult to support this. I actually believe their claims that the Hamas flag was handed to them by an audience member and that the waving and chanting that followed was them being carried away with the emotions and occasion. It happens. This, coupled with the fact that it's a one off occurrence and they've since issued a statement denouncing the organisation, says to me that they should have received a metaphorical rap on the knuckles and a warning to future conduct. The terrorism charges being brought against them are a joke right up there with Palestine Action being labelled a Terrorist Organisation. Criminal maybe, but not terrorist.
But I was more disgusted with the other chants calling for local MPs to be killed which, coming in the wake of two MPs from different parties being murdered in their own constituents, was sickening conduct. Yes their team issued a statement apologising to the families, but I seriously question whether the 3 lads themselves have any actual remorse or regret for the chants, or even whether any apology at all would have happened had they not been "found out".
For what it's worth I believe the charges will quite easily be contested in court by any half decent defence lawyer, and in the meantime their notoriety will continue to grow along with their fan base. Which I don't think they deserve because in my opinion they are 3 vile individuals. And it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if, privately, all 3 of them supported Hamas and what they stand for. It honestly wouldn't.
Sorry for the rant mate.Whilst on the subject of Irish bands, I'm loving the new release from Flo Ro. And weirdly enough (given the Palestine connection) I've been getting quite a bit of The Cliffords in my FYP lately and I'm really liking what I'm hearing. Also looking forward to New Dad's new album due out in a couple of weeks. Enjoyed the lead singles.
Well we'll have to agree to differ on them mate. Which is fine. Best not tag me in on them againOf course they have been foolish re the flag incident and yes crossed the line with the MP comment. I think the link up with Fontaines has been good for them re how to make an effective statement without crossing into controversy. Punks will be punks and court the limelight but even that has boundaries.
People can see though that they are being targeted by the establishment because of their outspoken views on Gaza and that is why even the National broadcaster is using them at prime time. They are surfing the zeitgeist right now no matter the nature of their publicity.
And on other matters, Flo Ro are getting mainstream airplay on Radio 1 now which should really set them off. I must dig into the Cliffords as I don’t know much of them.
If we all agreed on everything this place would be rather dull.Well we'll have to agree to differ on them mate. Which is fine. Best not tag me in on them again
I still need to look into Cliffords myself. Just had a few songs show up lately. Not sure if you're a Suede fan but their new album is boss.
Sounds ominous that.Morning all. I shall be taking Kay to the dentists tomorrow for a check up then the hair salon Tuesday. I’ve got to check Fridays pub takings with our manager tomorrow as it’s not quite right then it’s a game of dominoes afterwards. It’s all go……
