But who’d own a prop from the movie? Lucas estate? Stuff like this should go to charity.

Film props are a fairly new phenomenon, the fact the vader sabre was in all 3 original films makes it kind of special. Can see this sort of stuff becoming like fine art, a fantastic investment that holds or better acquires value.

It's to early on a Saturday morning for 'should', I've not got it in me. Rumour is it was owned by one of the prop guys, but I can't confirm that.
