2025/26 Jack Grealish

What a guy

Nah there’s a definite cross over between those holding sentiments like ‘why are we going for PL experience’ ‘top 6 cast off’ ‘over 30’ about Grealish and those who wanted Dyche out.
Are you assuming that everyone who wanted Dyche out also didn’t want Grealish? I think there’s a clear difference between fans who want us to bring in top talent, and those who’d have been content with keeping players like Doucoure or even Harrison.

Let’s be honest, if the so-called messiah was still in charge, there’s no way Grealish would be an Everton player right now.

No of course not, but you literally posted

‘The same people who opposed signing Grealish were also the ones who wanted Dyche to remain and Doucoure to get a new contract’

Just because I disagreed with that doesn’t mean I hold the opposite binary view.

There’s a load of people in those vault posts who were Dyche’s biggest critics saying they didn’t want Grealish

There was nothing strategic about it, his wages were simply better allocated elsewhere, such as on Grealish.

You have a habit of thinking in black and white mate and making sweeping untrue statements - it wasn't either or. From a financial point of view we've brought in two players in KDH at £25 mill and Rohl at £20 odd to cover the spread, bringing in one with Doucuore enables elsewhere - thats why they tried to keep him. Its far more nuanced then i like him/i dont like him.

I can tell you our Achilles heel this season is going to be in midfield and we will miss Doucoure, we already did when Leeds pissed through our midfield and Wolves had phases on Saturday, albeit they have very good and underrated midfielders.

Strategically, with a lot of work to have done this summer i would have liked to have kept Docuoure and DCL - im more of a fan of Doucoure then DCL, but i think if wed kept both the squad would be stronger right now and also we prob would have a right full.

Offering him a new deal was a no brainer really, thats why they did it.

Nope.

If our ‘Achilles heel’ is not resigning someone (on ridiculous wages) who's not a natural 10 to play in the 10 role, then we may as well call it quits. We’ve purchased enough players who can play in the 10 I.e. Grealish, Alcaraz, kdh. Ndiaye, even rohl played in the 10 for Freiburg, to adequately replace Doucoure. I just thank god the club didn’t offer him the wages he wanted.

The issue is that a midfield 5 of

Garner Gana

Ndiaye KDH Grealish

Just simply doesn’t have enough pace to affect the game when they don’t have the ball. It’s why opposition teams can have large spells of dominance over us. It was concerning watching Mansfield boss us on our own turf for 10 mins before the end of the first half.

If we can get Dibling into the lineup somewhere that will help, equally if Rohl comes in also there’s more pace to cover the ground but it might be a while before Moyes changes anything.

Doucoure was terrible on the ball and I’m glad we got rid of him but I’m not sure his off the ball work has been replaced. One of the few times I’ve seen us recently not being outpaced and bullied by opposition teams was when Doucoure and Onana were in the same midfield with Garner. They both covered so much ground at pace that we could hit other teams and force turnovers high up the pitch. We’ve got less chance of doing that now so will end up winning the ball closer to our own goal and have to play our way out.

Sorry mate, Doucoure wouldn't be getting many minutes this season with the players we have signed. Nothing can be taken from the Leeds game were 3 of those players didn't start and we were missing half of our defence.
