Don't know if it's a happy coincidence, but the Rolls Royce Spitfire engine was called The Merlin. Unless his parents were fans of the Battle of Britain.

Röhl is an 8. He could turn his hand to 6 or 10 in an emergency but he is an 8. He progresses the ball through runs more than passes but he has shown a more rounded passing game for Germany u21s suggesting there are aspects of his game we can build on. Moyes does have a solid track record improving players who are willing to put the work in and Röhl does seem to fit that bill.

But is he dynamic?

Agree with all of that, he looks comfortable driving forward from deep, patience will be required as Moyes brings him along, happy with the signing.

I highly doubt it. He literally says his own name in his video on the website and it's nothing like "Rule".

O with an umlaut above it turns the sound into somewhere between an "urrr" and an "errr".

Think of when Özil played for Arsenal and how commentators would pronounce it, that's the sound you're looking for here.

If it was pronounced "Rule", his name would be spelled "Rühl" as the umlaut above a U creates that "ooo" sound
