Everton Youth Teams Thread

What are you watching

Or not watching

You saw the crescent, I saw the whole of the game.

He had a decent second half but I thought he was poor, especially in posession in the first half.

Either way, wish the kid nothing but the best, same as Oyango.

Im a middle aged guy convaleciente on the couch dozy with pain meds.

If you disagree, with my opinion, that is just what a forum for.

Good lad.

I’d suggest your pain meds have given you a wank opinion on Finney

Finney made a couple of good charges up the right hand side. Looks a big strap of a lad too.
I thought Finney was better tonight than the last match I saw him ( Fulham?) At times he suffers from a problem a lot of full backs who are fast getting forward suffer from - they’re slow getting back and when they need to turn . Patterson and Dixon are similar and it’s stopped both kicking on a level. In that last match he was outpaced a few times by a speedy winger , he was better tonight and he’s got a lot going for him . I’m wary still of his ability as a big lad to turn fast, hopefully it’s something that can be worked on.

Justin Clarke needs to be fast tracked. Looks like a very good prospect.
Get Justin Clarke in the first team now and bin McNeil

Glad to see he scored but let’s be realistic, he’s struggled to even look U21 worthy the rest of the games he’s been in this season.

I do wonder if playing up top hides some of his touch issues and flatters his decision making. Just a big strong ox of a poacher… if it works, it works!

….he’s only just signed his first pro-contract. For a bit of balance, watch the first BMD test event when he literally never got a look in against the young Bolton full-back.

No doubt the boy has real ability, he made his debut for AFC Wimbledon at just 15 and looks like he’s being well managed here.

The one thing that strikes me about Clarke is how much he’s shot up in the last year, he looked like a typical 16 year old winger when he joined us , now he looks 6 foot plus and I wonder if at times he’s adjusting to his body. I think he’s doing fine at 17, been with the first team , a regular at u21 and at the same stage Gordon was being dropped from the u21s by Unsworth. There’s definitely something there, the difference will likely be his own attitude to improving himself, working hard etc …….and of course if we as a club become serious about giving him a development pathway.
