Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We certainly should have an easier summer next year recruiting - I’d suggest barring outgoings we really only need fullbacks and maybe a holding midfielder.
Need to see how the season goes tbh, if we did somehow qualify for Europe I reckon there are a couple of areas where the quality of player profile might have to be raised like up top. Need to see how it goes tbh.

Karsdorp is a competent right back who looked unreal until Mourinho took out his soul and ate it (what he needs to stay alive)

Confidence probably torpedoed to bits but there is or at least was a player in there
He is certainly someone who could do a job whilst we looked for a more long term option.

So is that it, roll on the January window.

Need a right full back if there's one available. Would like to see if there are any crafty loans for someone trying to make a name for themselves with a world cup coming up.

Moyes bemoaned the fact that he wanted older more experienced players but struggled to attract them so had to recruit younger players as they were more open to the “project” and easier to sign. ( and yes he was quoted in the echo saying exactly that for anyone not believing it).

I for one am glad he’s disappointed that he didn’t get what he wanted! A team of Soucek’s and McGinn’s isn’t the recruiting strategy we should be looking to do!!

We’ve had a very good window almost by luck more than judgement compared to what we might have had if Moyes got his way.
I've no issue with Moyes trying to get his John McGovern in, dependable and capable, his standard bearer. It might be a callback to a previous era, and maybe he's to old school for his own good, but the elder statesman in midfield, someone to deal with the referee, I can understand it.

@Drico - what is your opinion of this player? For anybody else who knows the German league, your views would also be of interest.
He's a strong, versatile midfielder who will give us a bit of presence. I haven't seen loads of him, but when I heard we were in for him I was pleased. He's a German U-21 international and played at most of their underage levels, so straight away you know you are dealing with somebody who can play. I'm not too concerned with his few injuries last season. His overall record is good.

I'm probably more pleased with this signing - given the price - than I am with Dibling's - mainly because for what we are paying, we're not taking a massive risk and upside is very good.

Thanks for the reply.

There's some decent looking options on this list, quite surprised at the names really.

I've just noticed that injury record.

That's a concern. Especially the ankle injury.

I think the final words of this thread should be given to the bedwetters. They fought a great fight, disciplined and spirited until the end, but they have ultimately lost this battle.

For now, they will go back with their tails between their legs, probably regrouping in the basements of their parents' homes, drawing up battle plans on damp yellow bedsheets, ready to plunge GOT into a pit of fear and negativity once more in January 2026.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends.

I'll come back to this when Jake gets a knock and Patterson loses his man every week.
