I think that this lad will surprise many people and turn out to be a cracking player for us.
These type of players are sometimes the ‘glue’ that often go unnoticed, but hold the team together to let the flair players flourish.

His transfer went very much under the radar compared to the Sky 6, but when you heard him talk, he came across as a very intelligent, and humble young man.

I really hope he settles well in this country, and we start to see his obvious talent.

I'm assuming that he'll be deployed a bit deeper whenever he gets on. Seems comfortable enough operating around both the 6 & 8 positions and values his prowess at getting up and down the pitch in general.

This guy is so hard to evaluate because he's played basically in a different position every match. I went and pulled out all the games he played at DM and CM in the 23/24 season to figure out what he does when he plays there (he basically didn't play there at all last season). Big caveat that this is based on only about 700 minutes.

Main notes:

His tackling/interceptions was pretty much bang on league average
His passing forwards was truly awful - like over the last year Gana passed forward *twice* as much as him in those games, and that includes Gana under Dyche
His carrying the ball forward was absolutely insanely good. Like significantly above players like Goretzka and Rice.

So looks like the theme of our summer recruitment continues in terms of buying players who move the ball up the pitch a LOT with the ball at their feet. He was only 21 that season as well.

Those passing stats really absolutely honk though. Hope that can get fixed!
Sounds like he can be converted into a proper number 6 based on that? 🤔

Honestly no idea! I would lean towards him more likely being an all-action ball-carrying 8 but who knows. I really wouldn't base much on what I wrote - it's not much info to go on, I was just curious enough to go scrabbling around for whatever's available.

If I HAD to make a guess, they think they can develop his ball-winning from average to good and his passing from bad to average. If he maintains top-level ball-carrying too then you've got a fantastic midfielder who has the bonus of being a big lad who's great in the air.

Also nice nice-lad stats seem to be off the charts so there's that.
