2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Any top Manager is not perfect - we have been screaming for a right back when Coleman got badly injured before DM arrived - DM has a habit of wasting seasons of players on loan - Coleman, and Osman, springs to mind - plus Ross Barkley should have broke on the scene much earlier twice he was sent out on loan ....
The other lot have a 16 year old star winger not much chance of game time - he has stayed put ...

We under most Managers just have a habit of sending youth players out - Harrison Armstrong even DM states he's special & lumps him out ?
Coleman and Osman who came back rounded players and went on to have fantastic careers? They’re your examples? 🤣🤣🤣 Harrison is no where near ready for the premier league. Not even sure he’s a starter for a top 6 championship team at the moment.

I have liked what I have seen from him. Hope he plays lots and comes back ata level that he can compete for a place in a top PL team.

Pleased he's got a loan move, without doubt the most beneficial option for this season.

He clearly has something about him but really hope he can develop and become one of the leading young talents in the Champ this year.

Nothing more to add other than 18 year old lads enjoy playing football - he’s too young to be kicking his heels on the Judi. Looks to me like there is clear succession planning here with high hopes of Armstrong.

Blimey - the Osman and Barkley ones I just don't agree with in any single way there at all.

I remember the couple of games Barkley had when DM was here and he was naive and raw. Osman's loans were the making of him (and he has said as much).

You can't compare someone having a 16 year old who's getting game time in the PL - development isn't linear. It's different for everyone.
Our youth policy is pants & letting Armstrong go out vindicates that point - Lookman & Robertson prime examples plus Chermitti signed for 15 million hardly had a kick of the ball! - sold at almost a 200 percent loss....

Looking at Prestons starting XIs this season in the league, its been Whiteman & McCan playing every minute, plus one more (Devine or Podarson)

You would imagine he isn't taking the captains spot (Whiteman sits) so you would think its one of the other '8' positions he will take up.
Interesting as he had the sitting position at Derby too.
I don't think he will be thrown straight in to be honest and might have to bide his time as the 4 midfielders mentioned have either been mainstays for Preston, or looked impressive so far (Devine)

Lookman wasn't good enough at the time, he proved that at Fulham & Leicester too
Robinson (not Robertson) was behind Baines & Digne at the time, and i don't think anyone could of predicted how could he could end up when he left

Chermiti hasn't shown a thing apart from some friendly goals against 'checks notes' Sligo Rovers

Sometimes also players just look better in different leagues and systems. Lookman for example was playing in a completely different role than he was utilised in the PL.

Chermiti signed for £11.5m plus bonuses (which, given he's played 297 minutes for us, would seem unlikely we had to pay any of). We've sold him for £8m plus £2m of bonuses - your maths doesn't stack up here

I am on the fence whether having Armstrong here or letting him leave on loan would have been the better option and it did sound like Moyes was on the fence slightly when asked about it.

Let's just say I think you're going a little bit over the top about it and are inventing arguments to back your point up

Another year playing top level football is just what he needs at his age.
Yes when he's in his 30's he may get a game .....

My argument is players we sign young don't even get on the bench never mind in the team - we prefer two keepers on the bench scenario for 3 seasons or more- plus you overlooked my point of Lookman & Robertson {a great left international USA back } who would walk into our present team now sold for £1 million -

As for funds being great all the signings we still have no right back back up ... so I am not inventing arguments - our youth policy is poor since Unsworth left - first team wise ....
If midfielders get injured especially when the AFCON cup is on Armstrong would have been back up a 6 month loan may have been a better policy ....
I am not going over the top when DM was here the last time do you remember 606 radio show derby fans telephoning in puzzled why our club was struggling at that point & they had Osman MOTM every week for them - only then did Osman get pulled back into the first team squad !
DM was clueless about his form at Derby - at that time we finished only two places above relegation under DM - BK partner in Blue holdings wanted DM sacked plus walked after the Kings Dock fiasco - for the sake of 30 Million from outside was needed - I digress -

Our youth team & scouting system needs a shake up = still no right back cover injuries to our best CH etc etc - no foresight IMO !
