I kind of agree. I'd rather not sign players that don't want to be here.
Take Grealish as an example - the lad is quality and has been playing at the highest level and under the best manager of the modern period and despite being out of form for a couple of seasons, would still have had plenty of suitors. He really wanted to play for us. That's what I want. Players who want Everton as much as Everton want them.

If he wants to just step into a CL team without doing the work to make that team a CL team then is that really the player we need? If we get into the CL team (dream mode engaged) - I'd still want a player who would be prepared to put in the hard yards of making us into a regular CL team than someone who thinks we offer an easy ride to fame and fortune.

That would only happen if our owners were especially thick enough not to put their shares into a blind trust after observing what happened at Palace. They won’t just boot us out just because we’re Everton, as I think some of our fans genuinely believe.
