Goats squad analysis thread 2025/6

Basically, 7 outfield players were bought. Of those, 2 will be regular starters: Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall.

Barry will deputise for Beto
Alcaraz will deputise for KDH
Dibling will deputise for Ndiaye
Aznou will probably not feature at all
Rohl will deputise for Gueye

I’d be amazed if by the end of the season Barry Dibling and Rohl don’t become regular starters.

Dibling especially, the club pushed the boat out for him price wise. He could have stayed at Southampton and played every game for them. He didn’t move to sit on the bench.

Think the squad is much healthier then the start of the window, last season we couldn’t score goals and watching Everton was like hammering nails into my eye balls.

Now we look a real threat going forward and we have some depth in areas we never had with player quality improvement.

Still need a right back which is the major disappointment oh and a third forward but maybe these could be addressed in January especially with a World Cup year.

Overall I’m happy

Where does Ndiaye play if Dibling is a starter?

Said in the Transfer Window thread but the floor and ceiling of the squad has been raised this window. We have players for now brought in like Grealish and KDH and players like Dibling and Barry for the future. A great mix.

But we missed out on the basic building blocks like a RB who can get up the pitch and attack and a CF who scores regularly. Two positions that were glaringly obvious required filling.

Some decent signings and some baffling signings.

I agree that missing out on a RB is disappointing but I am hoping we revisit that in Jan because Patterson is moved out.

I guess all 3 of Grealish Ndiaye and Dibbling can play right left or the number 10.

The team has become flexible in team selection but also during the game.
Great to see.
You cant play Ndiaye close to Grealish. That's my belief from what I've seen so far. They just get in each others way. They have to play on different flanks.

Grealish and Ndiaye are the number 1 wide men. No question for me.

Aye, I think we have stumbled upon seeing Ndiaye as our first choice RW.

Depends if KDH would ever be moved back into the midfield two then all three could play but appreciate this is unlikely in the short term if ever. KDH being dropped if he doesn’t perform is also not out the question.

You’d like to think for the investment made in him that Dibling’s ceiling will be higher than Ndiaye’s. As good as Ndiaye is Dibling has the pace and power to really power past players. I think he’ll be a star for us, and if he is he will go on to attract serious interest from the top clubs in the world. I’m just not sure whether Ndiaye can reach that level. I think he might actually be playing his best football for us right now.

Ndiaye is a very good player and it’s just nice to finally have options where we can play whichever ones are in form and we’re not all thinking our entire team is done if one attacking player gets injured.

It’s just bizarre seeing Grealish KDH Ndiaye being subbed off and watching Dibling Alcaraz McNeil come on. Genuine depth for the first time in a long time at Everton.
