A top transfer Journalist.
I used to read his articles in The Atlantic, but drew the line at paying for his weekly transfer related podcast.
The Horsepunchers hate him for cutting through the BS at their club and telling it how it is.

I’d say so far he’s lived up to the hype. There wasn’t a ton out there at RB. Rather than overpaying, he drastically shored up the front and middle which relieves the constant defence needed under Dyche. I’d rather spend everything we did for a host of players than one RB and still have an anemic offence.

I sat between him and a member of the Reading Board in the Directors Box at Selhurst once. The Reading Board member (who I knew through business) introduced us and told me that he (Hammond) was the single biggest factor in creating the team that got Reading into the Premier League. A while ago now obviously.

He pokerfaced Southampton in fairness. Had them coming to him with counter offers that kept getting lower and lower.
This was the best bit of individual negotiation that the recruitment team did this summer for me (from the outside looking in, of course). To get Southampton to climb down from £50m~ to £35+5m showed an encouraging level of resolve & patience.

He's not identifying targets just negotiating the fees and wages involved so hard to say. I'd like to know what the strategy is on contract length seems a bit odd that everyone has got a 4 year deal apart from Alcaraz whos got a 2 year deal. Given the PSR rules everyone else seems to be giving 5 year deals.
